I judge and when I do safety/deductions, I am always sat next to a TV so I can rewind and pause to confirm deductions or legalities. Most of the other judges bring iPads with them and video every routine with an app that allows them to slow down the video so they can use that to review how many...
We have an overload of Madi/Maddie/Maddys at my gym. We have 5 on one small team... And 3 of them have the same last initial.
I have an Aubrie on one team and an Audrey on the other. I struggle so hard with calling them each the wrong name. They both just respond to either name now.

That there'd be nights where I couldn't sleep because I was so worried about certain routine elements. My j2 struggled with their pyramid SO HARD prior to competing and I'd wake up in a cold sweat over it.
That no matter how confident I feel in my athletes, the nervous feeling as they walk on...
Prior to the meeting you'll need to take the online tests in the areas you're getting credentialed in. That part is mostly rules (from what I remember)- keep your rules and glossary handy if you're not super comfortable with them. You'll also need to do an online concussion course and a test...
RE: division splits. EP cannot split a division into large and small unless there are at least two of each. The only exception is if a gym is bringing two teams in the same division, from the same location, and one is large and one is small- then they can split out one of them into a division...
This is just semantics but they got their bid at One Up. Still crazy quick before Worlds. One of my friends coached them. I was so proud that they made it into finals, what an awesome experience for those kids.
Rumor I heard is that they will be in the Tinley/Orland Park area... So south suburbs and not very far away from GTIL. Not sure how true it is but I guess we'll see.
Flyer would need to put a foot down and then cartwheel out. No inversions from any kind of cradle position towards the ground in level 1.
Do your flyers put their foot on the ground then roll out of the prone? Otherwise that's also illegal for level 1... That isn't legal until level 3.
Absolutely 100% in love with both girls uniforms. I just wish the boys had a curved neckline and curved stones instead of v neck so it matched the girls, but they still look amazing. Love love love the tail-less bow on the little one. I know someone had posted those type of bows in another...
we're in small division II at Indy. Our S2 has 18 teams in their division and our J1 has the smallest out of all with "only" 11 teams.
We have 5 teams and this will be our 4th competition of the season. Only one team at one competition has seen a division of less than 5 teams. The lower level...
Next weekend at Jamfest Indy, our j2, j3, and y2 teams all have 20+ other teams in their division... And that's with a large/small/small d2 split. No shortage of competition for any of those teams no matter where we go.
My gym is going with 5 teams.
Small Youth 2
Small Junior 1
Small Junior 2
Small Junior 3
Small Senior 2
I'm excited, I think this event is so much fun! There's always something going on to keep the kids occupied.
Like others have said, the point is to lessen the number of people that come up to argue a score just to argue and try to scrape up a few more tenths of a point. Having worked for and EP and as a scoring rep, I've gotten some really unbelievable challenges and had a lot of "teach me about...
Last season, my gym's Y2 was awarded a higher placement a couple of weeks after an event because the winning team was disqualified for having an athlete that was too old. The team from my gym went from 3rd to 2nd and received a new banner with the correct placement... We talked to the gym that...
We start practice in May, but our attendance policy is relaxed until we do skills choreography at the end of June. After that, the kids get 3 missed practices for the rest of the season. The only exceptions are graded school functions, funerals, and major emergencies. The two practices out from...
I work for an EP (but not the one in question). A few notes from "our side":
1) Worlds teams are required to perform twice for a bid to Worlds (this applies only to cheer and is USASF sanctioned). We have a similar style bid event- it's spread out over two days to accomodate all the teams...
There is an "image policy extension request" form on the USASF website. It's possible the gyms you're seeing did this. This is the paragraph above the form on the USASF website:
"Image Policy Extension Request
The final portion of the USASF Image Policy that requires full length uniform tops...
The USASF reps are SLOW at responding... At least the one in my area. If you hear back in less than 24 hours, watch out for flying pigs.
PS I realize the slow response time is because they're probably just swamped with emails... The number of reps really needs to increase.
