My school is kelly green and white and our mascot is the Indians. Amazing colors to have and Varsity does them beautifully!
The other school in our district is the Cowboys and they are orange and brown. Let that sink in...
Aren't UCA bids a completely different from LICCA and organizations like it? Correct me if I'm wrong, but some of the NY teams go to the NJ qualifier...
In New Jersey, not only does everyone that come in contact with a child needs to have it, every student starting with the Class of 2018 needs to have it. My school is certifying everyone in every grade despite if you already have it or not.
The pep rallies at my school are not centered around sports because that would make the sports team an exclusive group. They are run by our student council and are done in more of a competition between the grades. With that being said we can perform at as many of them as we wish. It varies...
So many people in my school (including teachers and some of the administration) take cheerleading as such a joke but the reality is that you actually have to be good to be on varsity. The JV team has juniors at my school and the Varsity team has a considerable amount of freshman.
My doctor...
In my school, everything (transportation, comp fees, choreo, etc.) gets paid for either by the school or the athletic booster club for football and cheerleading (none of the cheerleaders really know who pays for what). This is of course with the exception of tumbling, some additional clothing...
Honestly, I never recommend missing a game. I have before due to critical illness that was out of my control, but obviously this is in your control. Talk to your coach and your parents and see if you can come up with something to help the situation...
Most uniforms (especially Varsity ones) are not made so that the pants are :
a) not flattering to wear without a skirt
b) the tops are not long enough to cover the midriff area
-No cheerleader should ever wear the skirt over the warm up pants.. EVER
You clearly have never cheered when it is 20 degrees outside... Friday nights in November and sometimes even December are BRUTAL in NJ. I am getting the chills thinking about it...
Pantyhose just aren't practical IMO for most schools due to the fact that they do stunt. I had a flyer that wore them once and our backspot had such a hard time gripping her ankles our coach made her go inside the school during a Friday night football game and take them off...
My school has outside judges come to give score, but the coach has the final say in who makes the team. It seems to work for the girls that get on the varsity team, but the other girls that have been on JV multiple years tend to be upset by it.
Wow talk about special treatment for your kid. It bothers me so much when parents are the coach of any team outside of Rec Cheer. It just spells disaster especially because cheerleading tends to have a lot of favoritism to begin with.
In the past years, my coach has been way too loose about her absence policies. It is very frustrating because one person can impact a whole team (Pyramids, standing tumbling sync, running tumbling timing, etc.). This year she says that everything is mandatory and you cannot get out without...
Some states my quote cheerleading as a "sport" but in some states, if you compete nationally, you are not considering a sport, but have to comply to some of the same rules.
