We can't wear ours, either. Literally, even if we are wearing it for a pep assembly and we have to walk down the hall for some reason, we have to put pants on or we get in trouble.
On game days, we just wear our warmup jackets with jeans or yoga pants.
You've already got your answer.
If you want to throw a basket toss on the gym floor, move a mat big enough to accommodate the toss(es) for the routine.
They're comfier than their cotton shorts, but do NOT get them if you have guy cheerleaders who co-ed/partner stunt on your team. The guys on my team say that the fabric in those running shorts is hard to hold; they girl slips out of their grip when tossing and catching.
While I'm a pretty big...
Since I have a habit of roaming around the "Confessions" page a little too often, I thought I'd start a positive thread :)
Why do you love your squad? It could be one reason or a million, just feel free to share!
Mine:
1.) After a really rough year last year, my squad has regrouped and we get...
Excuse me while I go make this my life motto ;)
Seriously though. Not just in cheer, but in life. Remember those times when talking crap behind someone's back solved the issue? Neither do I.
Don't worry, our coaches help us with ideas for our kidnapping and we always call the girls' parents (or just the girl if they're a returner) and our coach makes sure we're being nice ;)
Since these tend to be the biggest issues with all-star-turned-hs-cheerleaders out there, here are the best tips I can give you:
1.) BE. PATIENT!
In the all-star program, you are put on one of many teams based on skill level, so you are on a team with people who are at about the same level as...
At our school, tryouts are usually the first Thursday of May. The following afternoon (Friday), we go in the cafeteria after school, where the coaches are. There are a bunch of folded papers on the tables, all with the roster for each squad as well as the date and time of the next meeting...
We have started planning and mapping out our comp routine, as well as trying out some of the new stunts. So far it's going amazing! I've stalked the other teams in our division for the State Championships last year and I think we have a good shot at taking 1st or 2nd :) any tips on how to make...
No tumbling is required, although it's nice to have. Some years we've had enough people to compete in the tumbling division, but most years we've been just as or even more successful in non-tumbling.
No no it wasn't you! It was kind of a joke, haha. I'm not an all-star cheerleader and tbh, I can't say I'm a fan of it altogether due to what I've seen from girls I know who have been involved in it for a long time and the attitudes I see on this forum. But I do respect the sport and the people...
Less than a month, and I start my final year as a Lion. I'm really bittersweet about it, and want to make the most of my senior year of high school. BESIDES the obvious "turn in your college apps on time!" and "make your grades count!" advice, any other tips for making it the best year yet?
Adding to my last confession:
When people assume that a girl is a good cheerleader JUST because she's pretty. Or assume at tryouts that a girl is gonna make the team because she's already hot and popular at school. No. This is gonna come off as egotistical, but I've had several people tell me...
Sideline complaint:
When a girl who is normally spot-on with chants screws up once, and the coach throws a fit. Meanwhile, no one says anything when a girl never knows her chants, even later on in the season.
When girls think they can slide by being lazy during practice and at games because...
