College Are College Cheerleading Tryouts Political?

Congrats NCCheerMama, my daughter also made her Division I college team and is thrilled. I just felt like in some places the process wasn't entirely transparent. Thanks all for your interest and advice.

College Are College Cheerleading Tryouts Political?

Ok - this may be a bit controversial, but we are seeing very experienced game cheerleaders who also have level 5 tumbling skills passed over at college auditions for girls who appear a lot less qualified. Does anyone know what may be going on here? Is being from out of state make one an...

    College Cheerleading Tryout Restrictions

I know my daughter took Auburn off her list for that very reason. For us joining the squad as a freshman creates more opportunities than it does potential problems. Having a place she belongs, doing something she loves, keeping in shape, and supporting her new school's sports teams, all with...

    College Hard Floor

On a related topic, where do you find a matted non spring floor to practice on? All the club gyms have spring floor and , if they have a tiny bit that isn't, it is invariably tiny and just a mat over concrete which isn't ideal. It seems like the kind of floor that Acro uses, large matted...

    College Ncata Article

As a parent I love this new sport. It acknowledges my daughter as an athlete, puts her safety first and offers opportunities for significant college scholarships. I also really appreciate that they follow NCAA rules. This ensures that she won't spend more than 20 hours a week on her sport...

    College Advice For Newbie

My daughter is a rising senior and we are going through the process right now. While my daughter has level 5 skills (specialty passes thru to full and standing 2 to a full) she competes with her school rather than with an all star gym. In my opinion that has really hurt her in the recruiting...

College Colleges With Good Cheer Programs But High Academics Too?

My daughter is looking for the same thing - a selective school with good academics (she wants to be a doctor), great athletics and a cheer program she could love. She also though wants to stay out of the cold and or rainy states. Right now her list is UCLA, UNC Chapel Hill, Baylor, Clemson and...

    College University Of Florida

My daughter sent an email to the coach to enquire about the status of the team and future plans and hasn't heard back.

College Which College Cheer Programs Are The Most Fun?

This is for those of you cheering for colleges now or recently. Did/do you love it? Was the coach someone you respected, and the other athletes people you like? Did the other students show you appreciation? It seems like there are huge disparities in programs at different universities, and it...

No Questions? Start Here. First, Second, Third Post. . .

I am looking for college recruit info for my rising senior. As far as I can tell it looks like cheer recruiting takes place almost exclusively out of all star gyms. Either that or you have to fly your student across the country to multiple university clinics.

    Newest Newbie

Hi and thanks! She is thinking Biology or Pre-Med. She wants a school that has a good academic reputation and a great sports program in a place with lots of sunshine days. She thinks she prefers a co-ed team that competes UCA, but is open. We are also looking into Acro.

OK here is my first post. I'm a cheer mom of a rising high school senior. She is a level 5 tumbler and flyer with over a 4.0 gpa (weighted) and a 2100 SAT. We are looking for ideas about where she should go to college.
