Actually no - and
Actually I disagree and full disclosure my area in cheer not dance or Pom. Varsity’s gone on record admitting that using their items (apparels, poms, etc) leads to better scoring. If that’s true - and their honest about - what happens behind closed doors? Varsity owns these...
This isn’t just a sports issue. It’s bigger than that and thus the legality issues you raise in terms of antitrust aren’t entirely applicable. It’s a big, complicated, messy issue with lots of moving parts and one that can’t and shouldn’t fully be explained in a chat room.
not sure if this a compliment or diss. Sources to the comments is the EASY part since this isn’t a new topic, and without going into details, is one that’s privately and publicly been discussed. Now I’m going to get back to my vacation - where the issue isn’t whether my post are coming through...
Its actually 80%. In my first post I said 80% then in the second post 90. It’s 90% of total cheer industry. In my list of post are 2 interviews with Rebel CEO who confirms Varsity’s market share.
Sources posted
I provided sources in another post with one correction - it’s 90% of the uniform it’s 80% which I indicated in an earlier post. It’s 90% of the cheer market over all.
You are aware that BSN has been buying up uniform companies in earnest these last couple years.
As I said I’m traveling but here’s some citations to get you started
In 2019 Varsity controlled 80% of cheer events - both all star and high school - that’s 600 events in total. They control 90%...
They’ve been cherry picking and taking those videos down for years. Way back it was actually been against the rules to even bring video cameras into events. Security would stop you at the door. I remember when gyms were penalized for parents violating that rule. The opening finally came with...
Do we have some sort of explanation of this policy. It’s not new and it’s been in effect for at least a couple seasons. I admit I never caught it but that whole section including possible sanctions for publicly criticizing Varsity is flat out scary stuff. Who thinks that’s ok? What, honestly...
I’m not an expert on anti trust but I don’t think the MLB exemption applies here (nor do I understand how MLB gets away with this nonsense). I do think that there’s other perhaps less cumbersome and effective ways to dismantle Varsity’s lynch hold
I could be wrong but I don’t STP has anything to do with whether it’s an event held at a publicly funded facility. It’s driven by EP’s (most of which are owned by Varsity) and is based on the following factors: Tier 3: Housing Not Required; Tier 2: Housing is required at select Two Day Events...

And UIL is one of MANY State High School Sport Associations that Varsity serves as the sole provider of uniforms, training, insurance, certifications etc WHILE being responsible for determining the rules, enforcing those rules (or not) AND serving as the sole Event Provider. Welcome to the...
My daughters new comp cheer uniform, from of course Varsity, was $700. Their able to give breaks to Title 1 schools etc because in addition to that cheer uniform, I like the thousands of other parents out there, have also paid them in the 19/20 season for memberships, insurance, training, the...
It’s a tangled web (no pun intended) because the powers that be don’t want everyday people like you and me to fully grasp how pervasive Varsity’s control really is. Most of us can understand score sheets and consider it a victory because Varsity is sometimes allowing EP’s to actually share the...
