I'm quite sure rec needs to be attached to another sport... for instance cheer for a football team. I know some companies ask for a notarized letter from your youth league to compete in rec. We wouldn't be doing sideline cheer or connected to any other youth sports team.
Is there an actual...
Yes, getting non-profit status is tricky... I will have a committee to help with this type of thing. I am not in this to make money or open a gym. There is a good of families that want to create their own program.
I am interested to have more information regarding the All Star Club division... are many companies offering this as a division at competitions? What is the main difference between Club & Prep?
This is what I thought... I have parents who want this team and I'm willing to do it but want to do it right. It would also be completely non-profit. I think I have a starting place. It's going to be a big undertaking though.
I am considering creating a new rec team in my community. This would be a team that does not cheer for any teams but specifically would like to compete in local or regional competitions. I wouldn't want to be considered All-Star as we wouldn't be affiliated with a gym or have access to equipment...
I thought about that. We don't have a trampoline at our school but I think she has one at home that isn't assembled. I will talk to her parents. I think most of the issue is fear... She can tell me word for word how to do it, it's a matter of execution.
I haven't used the barrel analogy but I've told her to kick like a rainbow and lead with her hip for the rotation.
Typically, one of two things happen, she doesn't extend her kick and lands prone or extends her kick and leads with her shoulder which makes her flip. (Which is extremely scary!)...
So... I have a kid who is scared to death of the kick full. She can't complete her rotation, she lands prone. She can full down beautifully from any stunt. I've given her many corrections but, I'd love to have a second set of eyes look at it. I have a video, But I'm not sure how to upload it here.
This is something I would surely look into. Our program doesn't have a spring floor... but we may be able to work out a deal with our youth sports gymnastics program to use theirs. The girls all currently take tumbling with the program so they are somewhat familiar with using a spring floor.
No, we do not operate under youth sports, we are a non-profit organization. All of our staff.... from the coaches to the executive board are volunteers. It is a pretty unique situation.
I love this idea!!! We don't have great facilities... it's very difficult to get equipment here and we practice in a school gym. We don't have our own gym.
Y'all are getting me so excited for our kids!!!
May is a great month to come to Okinawa!!! The weather is so nice! My avatar is a picture I took at the beach... Japan is an amazing country.
Finding sponsorship here is tough but we would definitely do some fundraising, but a lot of it will come from the parents pockets. I think traveling...
I coach at an all-star cheer program in Okinawa, Japan. All of the kids in our program are US military dependents. We are not a competitive team because we are the only all-star team on the island, are a performance team that performs at different events. That said... we want to compete next...
I've been working with my team on full ups using the traditional grip, but they are having trouble with the re-grip at the top. Any tricks to help them re-grab the feet at the top? There are a lot of hands getting tangle at the top.
