Sounds like you are dealing with some pretty bad coaches. :( That really stinks. I fortunately have never experienced any of that with my cp and our gym. I agree that you should look at some other options if your child wants to continue in the sport.
At my child’s gym, when a stunt falls during a full out...the entire stunt group does burpees and standing tucks after. Usually, a fall isn’t one person’s “fault,” and I never hear the term, “dropping a flyer.” It just doesn’t make sense at my cp’s level.
While I don’t spend a lot of time looking at cheer catalogs (any really...I just buy what the gym custom orders) and I completely agree with having diversity among the models regarding ethnicity and gender (don’t they sell male uniforms? why on earth wouldn’t the have male models?) I am going to...
Usually you have to get an exemption to do this. They require our gym to send a list of athletes and their reservation # or exemption #. Otherwise, everyone would do what you are doing & no one would use STP & it would be pointless. I think you are lucky you haven’t been caught.
Oh, and I...
Ours doesn’t use them either, unless there is a mid season injury or something. And I am pretty sure in those instances the athlete doesn’t pay increased tuition. They *may* pay the comp fees...but again, pretty sure they don’t simply because I’ve had friends whose cps have been asked to help...
Maybe I am crazy...but if my cp tried out with those skills and was placed on a level 1, I would respectfully ask for a meeting with the director to get clarification. I simply cannot understand how any business person would basically turn away a paying client who has the necessary skills to be...
We designed a medal display using wooden decorative brackets and a wooden thick curtain rod, with decorative ball finials. All pieces were unfinished wood so we painted them white. The rod just sits in the brackets like a curtain rod, and it is easy for cp to add medals. Hers is very densely...
Our gym doesn’t do a big reveal party (we get called by coaches, which I think is a sweet way to do it but I assume extraordinarily time intensive) but I can see why it is done. AllStar is different than school cheer, no one is usually “cut” completely from AS. From the gyms perspective...all...
I am so very sorry. :( Do you have other family and friends to help support you and your mom during this time? I don’t think anyone really knows “what to do”...my FIL is dying and I just do what feels right in my heart. Some days I am just so, so, sad...selfishly for my children bc I want to...
Hotels are soooooo much more expensive at CS! And gotta say...I love that Summit and World’s aren’t STP. Teams from everywhere can choose housing tailored to their specific situation and budget.
What, no full downs? ;)
That was really great! The stunting was impressive and I admire the tumbling! My cp told me I didn’t know anything about tumbling and couldn’t even do a cartwheel. I showed her I could INDEED do a cartwheel! Landed it, but I think I saw stars for about an hour afterward...
Eh...kiddo wears the Summit ring fairly regularly. It’s not too cumbersome. I will say...I didn’t think the NCA jacket would ever come out of the closet...but she occasionally wears it in the Winter to bigger comps. It’s super heavy & very difficult to stuff in a bag. I think she wears it bc she...
^^World’s rings are “free” to winners (I mean, you’re paying with all the fees and stuff to GET to Worlds but no direct cost.) Summit rings are also “free.” The NCA rings are not the prize for winning NCA...the blingy jackets are...the ring is just an extra memento if you want it.
I have been known to indulge in a glass or two on competition weekends! However, I agree that as a parent, your absolutely first and highest priority is your child. I never have a cocktail if my child isn’t safe and accounted for, that is what a parent does. No excuses.
