Totally agree. We are now considering only going to events where they split up D1 and D2 as we have seen five point differences in raw scores on her team from one competition to the next.
It depends. After my daughter took a break from privates, her tumbling coach asked to start seeing her again. Now he is a very patient coach, but after nine months of not getting anywhere with her, he was going to try a different route. He asked me if I was opposed to really being strict...
I know of gyms that do this as well, so I wasn't sure if you could compete as D2, but not get a bid or what, even if you are a satellite location of a large gym, that has the same owners. . .
I left the coaching up to the staff and did not get involved. However, if it is something that is consistently upsetting your CP, that particular gym may not be a right match. You can always voice your concerns and have a meeting as well, stating how their coaching is affecting your child...
I agree with everything posted previously. My daughter struggled with a mental block on and off again for more than two years, with her longest stretch being nine months with no tumbling. We literally went through three total seasons where she would block for no reason. Hers started out of...
Strange. CP's team received an AL bid that was passed down. Granted, this is D2 Summit. The team who received the bid got a paid one at another competition and then her team received their AL bid.
Mine sits in our basement unused, and has since basically the day we got it. This is likely not the forum to do so, but I would definitely consider selling it. Point is-Save your money.
This one time. . . on a cheer bus. . we pulled into a sketchy gas station with an even more seedy store behind it with an awesome XXX glowing in the window.
"What does the XXX mean?" asked one innocent cheerleader.
"Oh that," I replied. "That's just a new area gym. I hear they have an...
My CP is also 11 and struggled with mental blocks on and off since she was seven. After watching her struggle with them for two full years, we decided to take a year off from cheer when she was nine. At that time, a new cheer gym opened in our area and I was interested in getting her into...
Our gym will sometimes place kids slightly beyond their skill level if they need the position filled (excellent flyer/base) and they are very close to level appropriate skills, and have reasonable expectations that they will get them by the end of the summer. I was in your shoes a few years...
Shiny, happy people holding hands!
AKA-No unhappy, angry parents and crying kids. Love to see great sportsmanship and kids from gyms all over meeting each other and making friends. I have had enough negative energy to last a lifetime with this last season. I need positivity!
I hope so, but when I had to make the trip two days in a row the past week, it was rough. It did not help that she needed yarn for a school project, so off we went to Walmart an hour and a half away at 9:30 pm.
**Disclaimer-I should have gotten the yarn while she was practicing, but once I sat...
We started the 1 hr 4o min commute and truthfully while it is not bad at the time, the next day I usually feel like I have been hit by a bus. CP is on a Senior 3 and Senior 4 team, and the type of kid who does not want to miss anything, so we are up there three days a week. Thankfully I am a...
I think it's totally fine after performing, but I see some kids like this almost all competition long and BEFORE they perform. There are some uniforms where this looks fine with, but others, seem to come down in all of the wrong places.
I really dislike when girls walk around without their arms in their uniform sleeves. With those cheerleaders in half tops, it looks like they are wearing some kind of trashy tube top. The sleeves cannot be that uncomfortable, right?
