CP's high school varsity squad won Regionals this past weekend which puts them automatically in the finals at State! This has been a weird season. It's CP's first time on varsity - last year she was JV. She originally wasn't even going to be on the mat but has been since the first comp...
When CP did The One a couple of years ago, it was the same weekend as Summit and down in Orlando. It was pretty crowded. CPs division had 13 teams in it (the most we'd seen since Cheersport), J2 had over 20. Other divisions were smaller but it was a good amount of teams there. Had a couple...
Grr...in DD's MS cheer, they were required to sell 10 of these Dominoes gift cards - they weren't even useful. If you didn't sell 10, you had to basically just pay for them. I kind of bitched a bit about that one. I was already POed about the fact that we had to "pay" for uniforms that we...
I don't really have an opinion about this but saying that only L5 means you're an elite cheerleader and should be the only actual Worlds champion - was there a time when people weren't doing doubles and they were considered elite? What happens when doubles aren't the highest any longer?
CP cheered at a smallllll gym and they'd do clinics a few days prior to the tryouts. Tryouts were generally 1-2 days depending on how many they anticipated.
Then they just put their numbers on the website or mass email out the results that said what team they were on.
Nothing super fancy but...
At our school, you can't do spirit (side-line) for football AND comp as 9th graders. There is a 9th, JV and V football team so we only allow 9th graders to cheer for the 9th grade football team. 9th graders CAN be on the V comp team however but we only had 2 9th graders on it last year. And V...
Our area doesn’t allow for 8th graders in high school sports. Our MS doesn’t even let out until 2 hours after HS lets out. How do areas that allow it even work.
I wish my rising 8th non-CP could try out for the HS softball team but games are at 345pm. MS doesn’t end until at least 4 :/
It's a bad situation all around. I can't imagine if my kid "won" and everyone was super excited, taking pictures, getting rings sized, etc..And then later being told - JK - give it all back.
I feel bad for GT not getting their moment and do feel like the athletes on Spice should probably...
They still haven’t posted results for med jr 2. Does anyone know who advanced?
Eta: Nevermind. Was able to replay the feed. Lots of the girls CP used to cheer with went to Jayhawks and the teams they are with all made it to finals!!
The gym that CP cheered at last season got a paid bid to it. I don't know if they are going to it but since it's right down the road - it seems like it'd be an easy one to do since it's no extra costs for the parents (except for getting in of course)
If they go, CP and I might even be able to...
A few years ago we had a Level 3 that was struggling to even do a full-out before their first comp. They competed a few times at Level 3 but dropped to Level 2 sometime after Cheersport. They did better after that - I think the highest they got after dropping was 2nd place. Definitely better...
CPs first year in full year All-Star, I thought her team deserved a bid. They were really close at Cheersport but their difficulty wasn't high enough yet to get a higher score. They added in a ton more and took 1st at almost every other comp after that. The comp where they did their best...
Just saw that the majority of the Youth Level 1 all look to be in Wildcard. If you're competing against that many teams just for a chance to move on and only the top 3 do...yikes...
There will be a lot of kids enjoying Disney that weekend ;)
It's harder to compete against the big gyms but if you can and can do it well, why not?
I don't know if that Cheer Factory that used to be in FL that had the J1 team was considered D2 but it seemed to me like they only had maybe 3 teams so seemed pretty small. And they won Summit 3 years in a...
