My daughter walked into a cheer gym at 9 years old and couldn't do a cartwheel. Like really. She won worlds on TGLC this past weekend. Not to late at all.
You are missing the second after this, she lifts her right foots and shifts her weight left to then step back onto the mat with her right.
Her left foot was completely off the mat, her right foot on - if she would have kept her right foot planted on the red no out of bounds BUT and she shifted...
I haven't been on this board in YEARS but PEOPLE. My kiddo who told me at 13 years old that when she graduated from high school she was going to move to Miami and win worlds with TGLC and I just giggled and said SURE - ACTUALLY DID IT!!! What a year for TGLC, absolutely unbelievable AND she...
If you look at the angle it did. Her left foot was completely off the mat, her right foot on - if she would have kept her right foot planted on the red no out of bounds BUT and she shifted her weight to her left foot that was off the floor and lifted the foot on the red to take a step back on...
Well, there are lots of parents that don't go, its just a 10 minute quick review, if more detail is needed they share with the athletes - but we would never not know the score....or the scores in our division. The coaches always, always will share that with us
Why isn't your gym sharing the information they receive? The practice after each comp is scoresheet review for our teams, parents are welcome. They share scores, scoresheet comments, deductions, placement within a division....is this not the norm?
Our gym posts lists online. This year it was not names but tryout numbers. I understand but it took the girls enthusiasm down a bit. One of the most exciting things was finding out who was on what team and if you didn't have the numbers of all your friends, it just wasn't the same.

Mini and Tiny are done at prep level in gym, as well as any other level/interest that shows for prep placements in August :) That's when Cheer Abilities start...
I thank everyone for trying to muddle it out with me....it ended up being an non-issue. Thanks to an additional influx of athletes at placements they made a Senior 3 and Junior 3 (and even a YOUTH 3). But it was interesting to think about.
This was the explanation given to me (by way of friend's mom by way of gym paperwork person who I guess checked into it). She wouldn't 17 in 2019. So she doesn't START the year at the age or something. I guess?? I mean I guess we will see :)
So supposedly this was double checked. The calendar date used by the computer to figure eligibility is 12/31. So even though her birthday is 1/1 she would be eligible? Not sure if I believe that and would bring my copy of the email everywhere with me but there you have it.
NOTE: I have not...
OK grid gurus, riddle me this. Due to the age span of several level three athletes, the gym is entertaining the idea of international jr 3 (which is 10-16). I read the whole thing age requirements are if they had been a certain age in the calendar year of the competition.
The rub. Friend of...
So this year our gym is doing announcements and placements by descending level. So only the level 6 and 5 teams have had placements and announcements while the level 4 athletes are still attending placements.
It is very weird to say that we have an XSmall Level 6 and a Small Senior 5 and have...
