What Rules Does Your Rec League Use?

You are very welcome! Good luck tracking down the info you need. :) You may want to suggest to your director that you have found some information online that you would like to submit to your governing body for consideration. Perhaps it is time they overhauled their rules and score sheets?

What Rules Does Your Rec League Use?

This is for youth cheering in Maine (Rec and School.) It is not yet a mandatory set of rules, but more and more of our competitions abide by them making them de facto at this point. Additionally we have to follow NFHS Spirit rules. Our high schools also use AACCA. We have not had it instituted...

    Talking During Practice

Talking and giggling and goofing off? Oh, do I know all about that! LOL A stern reminder of, "If you aren't interested in practicing, we could go call Mom to pick you up" can help, but I don't use it too often so that it doesn't lose its effectiveness. I also do the stand around silently and...

    Struggling Cheerleaders

I'm an Elementary/Middle school coach, not Rec, but I work with kids who are in that situation. All my kids have to have a forward roll to compete, so at the very least I make sure we have that. I have a long term goal for helping my kids make it on to high school squads. Sometimes that means...

    Forward Rolls Should Be Banned

If you mean dive rolls, those are banned from a lot of school and rec competitions already. A straight-up forward roll shouldn't be hurting people like that. I've Cheered For 7 Years But I'm Not Flexible At All. Any Help?

If you are still working on getting that BHS, try googling "back handspring and bridge drills" for more tips. Sommer is right about committing. I always tell my kids, "I can make you a good cheerleader, but only you can make you a great cheerleader." I would add to her list to do sitting toe...

    All-Star Worlds Discussion Day 3

I understand what you are saying, but with enough time, training, and promotion of the sport worldwide we will see a huge leap in ability level in that division, and then it won't feel so much like good teams are getting knocked out on a technicality. I look forward to that day because I am big...

    2012 Cheerleading Worlds

Am just finishing up the coed premiere vids. What a fabulous competition this year! I am really seeing some growth. (Although, it's a bit hard to tell in some ways, since I am not sure how many nations have team tryouts like USA, and how many are taking ready-made school and all-star teams as...

    All-Star ICU Competition

Kind of late returning to the thread, but I got to thinking after watching all the videos and reviewing the general cheer performance score sheet. I'm disappointed they don't require jumps. To me they are an important skill in cheer, so I wish they would add those in.
