It's just my opinion of course, but I'm ok with it being a youth sport. Nothing wrong with trying to grow the sport from the bottom up, instead of trying to keep the same (amazing) aging out athletes hanging around forever. There are college options for those who are older and if there is...
Agree with all of this. Also want to add that the age group is still a problem. Is there an argument that open should be 18+? Is there any reason to have 14 and 24 year olds on the same team? How about 6 and 16 year olds? There is such a wide span of maturity and it feels that creates...
And generally speaking many large competitions provide some sort of discount for multiple days, e.g. I'd mind a little less paying $50 for one day, if there is an option of $75/$100 for two or three.
Exactly and based on the scoresheet they should not give more difficulty points somewhere. That's why I am a little disappointed; it was very clear as laid out. Agree it was probably unrealistic for many teams in one year, but I personally think going in this direction is better long term.
It chased us away! Our group of four would have gone for a little Monday but for $200 we chose a pool day. On Sunday the arena hallways were still ridiculously packed but there was seating available inside when LAG performed (up top, sides). The narrow stairways though don't permit much passage...
I figured the coaches were aware of this way before we saw the first draft and while it seemed a lot in one year, was kind of disappointed that they changed back to advanced/elite being equal. This is not the first time Varsity has tried to make changes that would ultimately make the sport more...
Haven't been since pre-Covid. Last time we paid $375 just for commuter pass. This year we did All Star Worlds and it was less than half of that for registration and no park tickets. Optional discounted tickets were available for purchase to Universal if interested. The benefit of that is it also...
So after we've all been in NCA withdrawal USASF happened to quietly release cheer age grid for 2022-2023. No rules changes and the ages changes to align with IASF. I'm left a little confused. Link to grid and their presentation of how to calculate ages. https://www.usasf.net/rules
At our gym, yes! It always appeared to me that tryouts put you in a well rounded level group but after that coaches find other teams have a specific need ( beast base, tall backspot, little flyer etc) and athletes get moved around based on that area of skill/need. And the opposite happens too...
Agreed! And this language is stronger, MUST is used a few times. So, they must except for when we ignore it. Not arguing for or against the rule, but if you are going to have a rule shouldn’t it be enforced? And if it isn’t always enforced we get into favoritism...
YES! PAge 21 here: https://usasfmain.s3.amazonaws.com/Worlds/docs/20-21/usasf_worlds_cheer_info-packet.pdf
Some of it makes sense and is explicit (chest bumps) but others are incredibly vague (Public displays of affection?). It says even high fives are not allowed which seems joyless to me...
Agree with much that has already been posted. Thought it was really disappoint that they couldn't allow teams to be gathered somewhere (outdoors? the stadium?) to announce placements. Also, there has to be some clearer definition of what is excessively celebrating because it was ridiculous that...
