Each athlete is different and progress at different paces. There is nothing wrong with that. Your best bet are private lessons with a good coach that has the ability to teach you level 2 + skills. Privates are great because they are one-on-one and focused on skills of the individual athlete...
The gym my sister currently cheers for has a Main Facebook Group available for all gym parents and athletes where they provide general info about comps, events, notices, etc. and then each team has a group where specific information regarding that team is posted. It helps a lot and opens lines...
You should just buy the tickets when you get there. Go early on the day you need to watch. The lines might be long but they do move. It's worth it to go especially to see Canadian Trials in IO divisions. So much more exciting to see in person and worth any waiting in line. We went in 2015 for...
Not all tumbling classes are the same. It's all dependant on the coach, amount of athletes in class, and their skills. Unfortunately, while some classes may be effective, often times they can be just for fun, hanging out, waiting for others to take their turn, waiting on the coach who might be...
I'm no expert by any means but you should definitely get a coach for either privates or group classes. It's so important for skills and safety to learn the proper technique supervised. Be careful and keep working hard!
My sister is a level 5 Allstar cheerleader and also a flyer and she loves the Evolution. It's a solid shoe considering all the tumbling and stunting she does a few times a week.
I like it too. In such a competitive sport, there should be some level specific expectations required to make certain teams. Allstar cheer is so much more competitive now at any level so competition is fierce and level requirements become more necessary to be successful (especially in the...
I think that if there are programs out there like this that tailor to the beginners who have maybe never thought that cheer could be an option for their child, it would be awesome! Cheer is emerging all over and kids starting out just need a chance to try it out! My sister began cheer by going...
I could only imagine how hard it might be to find enough athletes that have the skills required and the age eligibility to create a dynamic Y5. It seems much easier to maybe place higher skilled athletes of that age group on Junior level teams. So much young talent out there from all over!
