I can understand that. But I would also say, the flipside to that, is look how much there was to learn what not to do. When you have the opportunity to do something different from the ground up, I'd think you'd want to have all your ducks in a row. Regardless of whether it has anything...
This was my impression. I vaguely remember a while back CSP rallying the troops in a teleconference about...something something something...Varsity is evil. Coincidentally, all the cryptic Champions League stuff came out not long after, which just further pointed towards a movement for a Varsity...
That's a fair assessment, which I didn't personally notice. When it was an issue, I'd expect overflow trash to be stacked right there. Trash lining the stairs from top to bottom tells me, obviously NO effort was made to even get near a trash can.
Definitely agree on the arena concessions. Absolutely ridiculous the lack of options AND uniformity.
As for the cleanliness, I generally expect the seating area to be a mess, but the stairs in the arena at times were a huge safety hazard. But the thing is, even though there are people staffed...
Pretty much this. It's just a holding company, who's goal is to pick up other companies becoming successful/profitable or one's on the dirty cheap they can turn around and make successful/profitable, and make money off them.
You could look at it as Varsity's "reward" for being such a dominant...
Eh....what does NASCAR have to do with the majority of sponsors on it's cars?
Advertising can be annoying, but it's what pays the bills. Anybody against it might as well just kill off all their social media accounts and half the Interweb. Otherwise you're just supporting the model, even if...
This thread.....so many directions.
Back to the actual episode, I thought it was fine. Of course people will always want more representation, but for the time allotted and a niche piece, I thought overall it was good. Certainly not a negative piece. Which sadly, the bar has been set so low...
The DI/DII seems the most plausible, albeit convoluted.
The cynical side of me says, USASF admits Worlds IS too big, but rather than a new venue, they just split it between two weekends. They've already shown they don't care about the logistical nightmare caused by The Summit for some families...
Even if that were the case, one would hope that somebody compared them to previous years and accounted for that. This is NCA. NCA!!!! Probably the most well run competition!
I read this facetiously at first, but the idea of it is actually pretty good. But they can't use the big screen for...
This may get lost in all the crossover/rules/sandbagging discussion, but seems like the best thread to post in.
I have to say after my 5th year of attending, this has been my least favorite NCA. For the same reason I got turned off to Worlds last year, is the same reason why NCA wasn't as...
Cheer Observer summed it up nicely. I think it's one of the interesting aspects of this sport, where you have to strike a balance between the choreography and the skillsets. It's natural to always associate "level 5" with tumbling requirements, but it still applies to stunting, baskets...
I didn't really see anything bad about either article. I think the cool thing about social media or really just the connectivity of the Internet is that if there was indeed a misunderstanding/misrepresentation, than those two involved can (and did) clear the air.
I don't understand people's...
I'll admit, my first reaction was to laugh. But in fairness, I did not check out the single. I'm not a musician in any capacity, but I do give props to any artists that can actually PLAY instruments.
I've never been to a Twisted competition, but the idea of trying to entertain seems like a...
I've dealt with it personally. Up until this past season, we've managed to get by. But once you're over the school absence limit, you're over. CP's district at least offers detention or community service to credit missed school hours, before any legal action (court fines). It's still frowned...
Financial commitment aside, that's also a LOT of missed school. I'm all for innovation with regards to events, and definitely for some type of competition to the way Worlds is going. But it still has the best general working model, regional events all year and the be all end all at the end.
I...
This was exactly my point early on. Who is this really benefitting the USASF/Varsity, or the industry? Even if there are several small gym owners who elect not to participate at Worlds, there is still enough support (IMO) that it won't just dry up from those losses. IF however it does cease to...
