Apologies if you misunderstood - Elite gymnasts that only do Beam are still Elite, they would never advance that far and be a Level 1 - The same should be true of NT - I would expect teams that compete at certain levels (Worlds) would be higher caliber and higher skills.
And the fact still...
Bottom Line: Everyone who knows anything about All Star U18 Cheer knows that the most prestige comes from winning Large Senior L5, All Girl and Coed - they are looked up to and admired.
To devalue or discredit the NT division is short-sighted and ignorant. The NT division does not take away...
That's like telling a runner - 'because you can't run the marathon, you shouldn't be a runner at all' --- different divisions, different skills.
Wouldn't be surprised if we see a Tumbling Only division, which you see in the gymnastics world (Not surprisingly Angel Rice does very well!!)...
Compared to many sports, this many divisions is commonplace - Swimming - so many distances, so many strokes, individual, relays, etc. etc. - Running - so many distances, etc. etc. etc. I imaging the artistic gymnastics community was all in an uproar when rythmic gymnastics was added. And...
Or here's another can of worms - if we were to base cheer clubs similar to other sports, it would be divided by geography, having Eastern, Western, etc. conferences. And even divisions based on 'level' like A, AA, AAA.
Much like the Red Sox v. Yankees rivalry, there would be local...
Unfortunately, the Medium gyms will be in the same situation with D2 split. The best they can do is make their XS team very selective, fielding the best possible team. If every gym did that in every division, not just Worlds, we'd have true champions, but stacking is unfortunately a reality in...
Frankly, there should be a D2 Worlds - you can have it the same weekend. Once everyone splits out, it should be about the same numbers as you get now, maybe a little more, but not much. The release of the XS's may have been a preparation for just that.
But with Worlds and Summit, I also think...
Great ideas - thanks --- I guess I should ask cheerleaders too, what things do they really like in their 'swag bags' that they get before heading to Worlds / Summit?
I have a family member that wants to send a care package to the hotel --- looking for great ideas, especially for Summit to go in it. Both food and non-food ideas are welcome.
I guess I'm really asking what things do you really appreciate and use on the super long competition weekends?
These uniforms are simply gorgeous, but some of them - ugh - do they really remember that these are designed for athletes?
I wonder how many teams actually ask their athletes what they would want/no want in a uniform?
Between the placement of gems that cut into their skin, uncomfortable snaps...
Still not seeing any teams (except Canada) from all of the International competitions out there --- there should be some from Japan, Europe and South/Central America - I guess I'll have to wait until the schedule comes out....
With seeing gyms recruiting for Worlds and Summit athletes due to injuries, are there any rules that apply?
I keep hearing about athletes that quit teams at the very end of the season so they can go to Worlds or Summit with a different (read 'famous') team. Are the receiving teams obligated to...
So you either lose Friday and Monday or Monday and Tuesday - the competition is the same length and you lose the same amount of days --- I think it works well for gyms that have Worlds and D1 teams - some staff will have a 2-day break and just stay in Florida.
Ultimately, it would be for the coaches to take the action, not expect the team to forfeit - like in the above mentioned sports, the coaches don't get answers from the refs/umpires/judges ALL THE TIME. The coaches want to get 'thrown out of the game' or whatever, that's up to them.
Me again - another question - would this 'protest' have been acceptable in other sports?
Think about it - Your kids baseball team gets a bad call and the other team scores without the umpire catching an error. The team decides that since the first 4 1/2 innings didn't go their way, they forfeit...
Thanks all for the info - with NCAA involved in Stunt and USAG in A&T , they will limit a lot of what happens in the All-Star universe, so this might be a very good thing. My cp will definitely be looking for both since she has said she doesn't want to do sideline cheer in college, but loves the...
Thanks - I'm thinking all of the event results haven't been able to be posted.
With the sheer number of events, there should be a lot more international teams listed.
https://varsity.com/uploads/editor/files/PDFS/AllStar/18/Summit/INT_SUMMIT.pdf
I've looked all over the place and cannot find a listing of International Summit Bid recipients that includes all of the teams coming from other countries - Varsity lists many, but there should be upwards of 80 teams that have received bids from overseas and South America (plus 30 or so Canadian...
