It's been a long time since I've been involved in all star cheer. Can you not still buy competition DVDs anymore? Wanted to get a few from NCA Nationals as a gift for my niece who is just getting into all star now. I couldn't find a place to purchase any type of all star competition DVD...
I don't understand why UCA is not publicly posting the schedule? What's with all the secrecy and only sending to gym owners? Many people simply attend as spectators with no team affiliations and want to know the order of appearance and such!
Maybe, maybe not. UCA is behind the Summit, so I don't think they would have started it if they believed it would significantly decrease attendance. Also, the Summit isn't open to everyone, and teams have no way of knowing if they will get a bid or not, while they do know they can go to UCA. It...
I'm not sure. Ideally I would have only one split in each division - small and large teams. No small gym, no A, B, C, etc. If that isn't an option and they have to be split, then I would just leave at as is because it seems like this would upset more people (the division winners would want to be...
Totally agree. Unfortunately, I think they will continue to split, split, split because whether or not people admit it - this keeps all star running. Parents tend to pull their kids out of programs quickly if they aren't winning these days, and it gives more chances for more teams to win or...
I was a recreation, all star, middle school and high school cheerleader from 1993-2002, then spent several years coaching in later high school and college. Now I am "retired" from cheerleading and spend my days working a regular job and being a wife and mother (to a child who is too young for...
The term "triple crown" has been the tradition for decades now, and will always be NCA, UCA and Cheersport. I know some may think UCA doesn't qualify - but the size of the competition alone, especially in Levels 1-4, has gotten incredibly large in recent years. Also, UCA represents way more...
Memphis Elite did open its doors in 1992 - however, back then it wasn't operating under the name Memphis Elite. It was run by the same person though, Frankie Conklin.
Memphis Elite's first season was the 1995-1996 season. I was there. :)
UCA does this to give everyone the opportunity to compete at WWoS - if they kept everyone in the same venue both days, then one division would be at Hollywood Studios both days, and that would be even more unfair.
When they change something during an event, it isn't because they wanted someone to place first - it's most likely because a gym owner was angry about something they deemed unfair within the division they were already in. Rather then further alienate said angry customer, they just made a third...
That is the best place to be! I always loved being right in the middle of the action. So fun having all the teams practicing all over the place, too. I am assuming you must already have staff there and that is how you know your room location?
