    All-Star Nca Updates

NCA is the first competition to score it this way. My daughter is on the Colorado Suns. In order to get a Superior (jackets, the trophy and banner) you had to score a 90 or above. While they were scoring on all the usual things like technique, independence was a huge part of the score. The...

All-Star Your Top 3 Favorite Competitions

For special athletes, I will add that the Battle At The Capitol's Special Needs Spotlight Event last season was absolutely fantastic. Well run, exciting, great, great teams and you can't beat the prize packages they gave out with the new uniforms, shoes, bows, music, jackets and the 2 World...

All-Star Kudos/brag Post!! Add Yours Too!!

My daughter's special needs team won their division at the Battle at the Capitol Special Needs Spotlight Event, so we are headed to Worlds. My daughter is SO excited to see the best of the best in her obsession of cheer and to cheer with them. Love, LOVE our gym and our coaches that give our...

All-Star Which Competitions Will Still Score And Rank Special Needs Teams This Season?

Very well said. My daughter (Down syndrome) is starting her 11th year on her Special Needs team. It has been the best thing in the world and is her absolute passion. The ability to compete in the same competitions as her peers is what has made it so special for her. We love Special Olympics...

    All-Star Nca 2015

While it is exciting to hear that we are back in the arena, we parents on our team were actually ok with being in a hall too. Some of our parents ran into the crowd issues and almost missed seeing the team compete last year because they couldn't get into the arena. Hall or arena, the team is...

    All-Star Special Needs Team Questions

That said, the special needs division is practically perfect. I love the camaraderie between teams, even as rivals. I love the sportsmanship I see by other 'typical' teams when our team walks down a hallway. I will never forget my first trip to Dallas and having tears in my eyes as teams from...

    All-Star Special Needs Team Questions

'insert bowing smiley' I think we are selling our kids short when we say they "just want the experience." I love the fact that NCA only gives jackets to the winners. That is life. Many of these kids are no less competitive than their peers. When we didn't win last year in Dallas, there were...

    All-Star 2012-2013 New Uniforms

My daughter has several D-cup friends. They have had no problems. The top has enough support in of itself to help supplement a good halter or clear strap bra. FWIW: Special Needs has the exact same uniform, except in a full top. Pictures don't do this uniform justice.

    All-Star Bedazzled Nfinity Backpacks?

Absolutely! I get mine from dreamtimecreations.com. Much less expensive and better quality than the ones at Michaels and Hobby Lobby.

All-Star Special Needs Cheer In Australia

Thanks for sharing! Brought tears to my eyes. My daughter has Down syndrome and she is totally obsessed with cheer. It is so wonderful that these opportunities are out there for our kids.

    All-Star 2012-2013 Tryouts

Thanks! We can't wait to see what amazing stuff you all do this season!

    All-Star 2012-2013 Tryouts

Wow everybody, thank you for all the shimmies! CP is with Cheer Central and eats, breathes and sleeps cheer. Her only wish is that they would practice 7 days a week. My biggest fear - unless they put an age cap on special needs, I am going to be a cheer mom until my grave. Just kidding. I am...

    All-Star No Peak Athletics Tigers?

We are with Cheer Central so don't know much. But some of the parents mentioned that Rocky Mountain Elite and Cherry Creek Elite merged to become United Elite. I do know our parents that I was talking to were super excited to see another strong program come together in our area!

    All-Star 2012-2013 Tryouts

My CP asked me what I was reading. When I told her, she wanted me to add that while there are no tryouts, she is super excited to have just started her 8th season on her special athlete team!

All-Star What Did You Love About Nca?

awww - thank you. My daughter is one of the flyers on that team. Superkatz are pretty darn amazing themselves!

    All-Star No Pool Access?

Our kids spend the day supporting the other teams, so no time to go back to the hotel. When they do go back to the hotel, they are supposed to be working on homework as we are usually there for 4-5 days (come in on Thursday or Friday, leave Monday) And we all stay in the same hotel, so pretty...

    All-Star No Pool Access?

Our gym has the same policy, it is a cheer competition, not a vacation. If you want to make it a vacation, you can arrive before or after the competition to vacation, but not during "cheer time." This also includes sightseeing or any other "vacation" type stuff. It needs to be done before or...

All-Star Jamfest Supernationals And Special Needs Teams- No Jackets

I also would hate to see it get so competitive that teams start holding tryouts and kids with more challenges start becoming excluded. But I do think that competing is good for kids. Our kids have to live in the real world where they have to experience joys and disappointments just like...
