I'm with everyone else. The HAIR. Honeys, if a bird can lay eggs in your weave you have got to get a new look. Why bother with a bow if you can't see it? And straight ponytails. Can be cute, but a little effort with a braid or something could be nice.
These 13-14 year old girls (and younger)...
For me..
Easily a few things.
1. whoadeedle.
2. Moving from ProX to fierceboards.
3. The first cheerlibrary we had getting taken down because someone reported us for having all the music.. so I never made a new one. Luckily other people picked up the slack. :)
4. When WC used Fashionista the...
Interesting, but this study is over 5 years old and the data is from 5-10 years old.
Both tumbling and stunting have become way more advanced and dangerous since 2002.
It also doesn't look like it splits up Rec cheerleading from AS cheering which we'd need since USASF doesn't govern Rec teams..
Chevy Chase is about 45 min from Twisters in Glen Burnie and 40 min from Elkridge where Marlins are.
It'd take quite a long time to get there in traffic to each location.. 95N is a pain, especially going out of DC on weekdays. It took me over an hour and a half to get home on Friday nights from...
No, they want a maximum of 10 inches between the skirt and top.. so the space can be anything under 10 inches (to a full top) but tops and skirts can't create a gap more than that. Tops are going to have to be longer or skirts need to be high waisted if people have long torsos. It's lame.
Well most of the Board of Directors are the people that created USASF. They can't be replaced. There are 3 coaches on the board and they get switched up every 2 years, and 3 non-voting members (Jam, Varsity, and someone else I forget).
We're stuck with most of these people unless they name...
I agree.
I'm thinking the gyms that like the rules will stay under USASF and the gyms that don't will not renew their membership. This could facilitate growth in the industry as a whole if USASF decides to keep most of these bone-head rules.. gyms splitting off, other facilitators, a legitimate...
Hey rec teams have pressure too! lol. I'm not saying that little kids can't handle competition or that we need to baby them. But I don't necessarily think upping the deductions are going to be the end-all to solve the problem. I like the idea of having a technical deduction, that should be huge...
I don't know about more heart-breaking, but I can see the psychological impact it could have on a child. Mentally screwy, especially when you think about how mean kids can be. It'd be terrifying to know you can't screw up even if you do it 100x/100x in practice? No one is perfect. No routine is...
You really think a couple weeks of certification each year would make someone eligible to coach level 5? If they've never done it? I don't. You can't give a month of certification classes (I think it should be a combination with shadowing) to get to be a L1 coach and then just do the same thing...
Which all star sports do you think are more expensive than cheerleading? Soccer or baseball? Nope. Basketball, could be but not usually. Cheerleading was the most expensive club/allstar sport my family paid for by far. Though, it definitely depends on where you live and which team you're on..
IMO injuries stem from just a few things:
1. Athletes who think they are ready for a skill and aren't.
2. Athletes who do not know proper technique for basic skills.. tumble or stunt-wise.
3. Coaches who are working their athletes too hard.
4. Coaches who are teaching improper technique...
I'm also really surprised there isn't something like "extreme sport insurance" available. I know you can get it for skydiving and hanggliding, but why not for cheerleading? And what does gymnastics have as insurance carriers? The sports are pretty similar (enough).. maybe cheer needs to get with...
So why couldn't there be a novice, intermediate, and advanced for high school teams? Make each one a combination of levels.. I've seen some really bad HS teams (like with 4 girls on them) and they can't even come close to a level 3/4. I'm worried for their safety when they're trying a thigh...
OMG. It was obvious how in sync their tumbling was last weekend, but from :50-1:03 (ish) it is DEAD ON. DANG. I haven't seen tumbling that in sync on one of the large teams in quite awhile.
I think you're so right. There were a ton more teams in the area 10 years ago (random little ones all over the place) and I'd say like 5 years ago there were more local competitions than there are now for All Star. UMD used to have a competition that Twisters went to, but there were even more...
Exactly. Though I will say that being invited anyway shouldn't be an excuse to stop working on your own skills to get you to that level 5 standard.. not that you or anyone else does that, but I would hope they didn't because international progression would be hindered in that case.
