Totally informal, for the past few years on the Monday afternoon people just congregate on the astroturf field between the residences at All-Start Sports football. You know, the place where teams spend every daytime hour practicing from Thursday night onwards. :)
If my team ends up with a bid...
I've been on (a couple of different) IOC6 teams for the past 6 years at Worlds. I've always been of the mind that keeping it in the air and dismounting cleanly and on time was worth way more than bobbling a stunt -- on the scoresheet.
We're kinda late out of the gate this year and haven't even...
I was reading over the draft scoring for level 6 co-ed and I have a question that someone here may have an answer for. In the STUNTS section:
DIFFICULTY (0-20 points)
0 pts: No skills performed.
1.0-8.0 pts: Less than a majority of the athletes perform two or less L5/L6 appropriate skills...
Ok. I dug through my files and the only one I have is rather poor quality. It's from Dec 2003. Looking at it now I remember that we were not 100% with the layout -> re-grab -> layout-full so went with the tuck -> re-grab -> layout-full. The team had started working on the skill in August of that...
They used to be a legal skill (we called them re-grabs) for a single year. When I coached the University of Waterloo team we had a pair of them in our routine. Layout -> re-grab -> Layout-full. Learning them was a bit hard initally but the two keys were for the flyer to really spot the landing...
Just looked at the updated rules for level 6. Looks like the stunt in the video is illegal...
Clarification: Toe pitch, leg pitch and similar types of tosses are not allowed in initiating free flipping skills.
So, does there remain any way of 'legally' throwing a single based arabian?
Just a point of clarification, typically the C in RICE stands for Compression.
Compression:
Use compression when elevating a sprain or strain in early treatment. Using an Ace bandage, wrap the area overlapping the elastic wrap by one-half of the width of the wrap. The wrap should be snug, but...
I use whatever the client has: Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL. Connect using code written in C#, java, javascript, php, etc. (I have a friend who is really a fan of Python and wants me to get on the bandwagon but no clients with the need/requirement). I'm not saying that you can't botch up things in...
NOOOOOOOOOOO.... (picture me howling in despair)
You have no idea the travesty of systems designed around MS Access -- how many broken dreams I've had to prop up by 'fixing' things written by amateurs who have been given tools that they don't fully understand. Use it for your home recipe...
That may be because your cat is running around in a dinosaur costume... just saying. (Of course this will make no sense whatsoever once you change your avatar pic.)
So PCA Nationals is around the corner (Nov 29-30) and I'm wondering which teams are entering this year...
The divisions are as follows:
Open 4.2
Open Small Co-ed L-6
Open All-Girl L-6
Open Large Co-ed L-6
- Cheerforce Wolfpack 6Pack
University All-Girl
Community College/CEGEP
University...
Looking up the USASF definition of a rewind: A free-flipping release move used as an entrance skill into a stunt.
I have to agree that you wouldn't be allowed to do it from the squish position. The arabian would fall under the broad definition of a 'rewind' skill.
Not that it's a big deal to...
I have been hearing of people doing an arabian up into stunts and want to add it for a partner stunt routine. Here is a video of someone performing it:
I believe that this is legal...
If you start it from the squish position (both of the feet in hands rather than one foot on the ground) is...
So King, when you get all these people together for a clinic let me know and I'll be sure to make the time to come out...
Personally, I find that I've learned a lot from an incredible number of people over the years. Almost everyone has something that I can learn from, whether it be technique...
Looking through the rules I see a couple of references to a Scoring page
"Stunts are limited to Division 6 Building Skills. Refer to Division 6 Rules and Guidelines under The All Star Games Scoring"
but can't find it anywhere on their site. Anyone have any luck finding it?
I have always known "little girl syndrome" to be the tiny flyer that doesn't learn to stay tight or jump when stunting. Especially co-ed flyers. These girls get by being tiny and being "manhandled" by their bases. They are the ones with poor body lines and always look wobbly when in extended...
If I ever meet her in person she is probably going to give me a sharp shot to the head... first I get her height wrong, now I inadvertently make fun of her hair and parentage. Time to go hide in a hole for a bit.
