May 14th-20 is #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek
For 2018, the Mental Health Foundation has chosen “stress” as their focus. As many cheerleaders end a season and prepare for tryouts for a new season, a new gym or hoping for a new level, it’s important to remember that...
How does your gym do it?
This year we have evaluations this week, Thurs and Fri (age based). They will have level practices for a few weeks and then announce teams on June 1.
Curious how other gyms do theirs.
Hi everyone - I’m curious how people post their tryout results. Currently, we do a letter to each girl but I’m interested in what other coaches are doing. It’s never a fun process!
Thanks!

Oh tryout season! That magical time of year where every athlete seems to be gaining new skills, gym owners seem a little more on edge and parents are wracked with stress hoping “little precious” makes her dream team for the upcoming season...
I know a lot of teams have just finished tryouts or are preparing for tryouts. Was wondering how everyones went!
We are finishing up our final team placements tomorrow. Sadly we weren't able to get high numbers for tryouts that we wanted but are happy we have enough for all teams including a...
Now that we officially have hit the "now what" point of the season I figure I'd drum up some conversation about NEXT season.
WHAT are your/your kid's goals for the upcoming season?
Ex:
Does he/she just want to get better at current level (ex: round 2 on J3?)
Is she hoping to move up a level...
So on In July I'm trying out for Allstar cheerleading team I have previously cheered at level 2 but want to move onto level 3.
I can round off back handspring series, I can standing back handspring (I'm close to standing series just need to practise a little bit more), I can punch front and I...
I posted this awhile back in another thread but with recent conversations, thought it would help those of you who have stress over upcoming tryouts and where your kid is going to fit.
This is going to sound harsh but if you are a parent:
Stay in your lane.
Worry about YOUR athlete.
Do not...
The planets have aligned and it's finally time to get my baby ready for her first team selection. What do you wear for these things? I have a custom bow and tank on the way but what kind of shoes and shorts would you recommend. She is two and a half and I want her to look extra special because I...
Hello. I just found this site and decided to jump on to get some advice. Good, or bad.
I have a daughter who is a sophomore, and has been cheering since the 7th grade. Her first year as a freshman, she made the JV team, and she is currently a Varsity cheerleader. The school held tryouts last...
Hola fierce board!
Looking for some tips for upcoming UCA staff tryouts. I tried out my freshman year of college and didn’t make it, but I’m going back once again, this time as a top. Currently a coed top with not much all girl experience, but I do have good tumbling, and pick up material fast...
Hey Friends,
I put this post together because Tryout Season truly has arrived, and I know there are always questions from students and parents about what to do and what to say at clinics and open gyms. Not game changing but definitely helpful to some.

Has anyone incorporated stunting in their tryouts? And if you have how so? I was thinking about doing it for Varsity only seeing as with all my current juniors staying I’ll only have about 12-15 spots and a 25 person JV team or ALL sophomores. I really want to base it on not only their dance and...

At every College Game, you see the cheer team on the sidelines cheering for your favorite team. Whether coed or all girl, the fun of cheering your team onto victory and the thrill of being in front of thousands of people who simultaneously want to...
I am posting here because hardly anyone looks at or replies to the Collge section. What CoEd stunting skills do Coaches expect to see at tryouts? Which skills are impressive? Do Coaches expect athletes to come in with the difficult College baskets? If so, any advice for learning these prior to...
Hi Coaches! I need some tryout advice. (always thinking ahead ) We are looking to revamp our tryout procedures in order to include stunting but we are having trouble trying to figure out how to implement it. Does anyone assess stunting at tryouts? If so, how do you judge it? Thank you!
