I used to like Spiritfest when it was at the casino. That made the comp weekend much more fun :D (Well except for trying to find all the under 18 entrances).
That was prior to Varsity buying it. It was a well run competition up until then - and I agree - the casino venue was very fun!

We are not going to this one but the parking for this comp and any comp at the convention center in AC was always such a clusterf**k - anyone know if they've done anything to improve it? There used to be a free lot a few blocks away but all the close ones were paid parking and filled very quickly, and a nightmare to get out of at the end of a session.

It's so weird. It's like they got bought by Varsity and relinquished all control and Varsity doesn't have anyone dedicated to run it. It's a mess.

I loved SpiritFest pre-Varsity. Mohegan Sun was probably one of the best venues too. Now, it's one of my least favorite competitions.

@CheerBank I haven't been to AC in awhile, but I wouldn't count on an improved parking situation.

East celebrity elite will be there... And I agree the parking is ridiculous!!! Couldn't even get a spot then to have to pay 25 a day is cray cray... Hope it will be easier to get in the garage this year or warmer then you won't mind walking as far...

I heard its almost double it's size from last year, and I thought that was big.

so that's why i'm having a hard time finding a hotel...i'm booked 45 minutes out right now. Hoping some room blocks free up and I can get in closer at a reasonable rate.

There haven't been any real changes in the parking situation. The sad part is that you have to drive in circles only to find out that the convention center garage is full. Hidden gem at this comp though is that the train station has a cafe in it. Go up the steps near the ticket booth for the event and you can get decent sandwiches and breakfast and not get comp-shafted with prices. It's also cooler and quieter. I love this event, but trying to imagine that it is twice the size is pretty scary.

I am hoping that maybe the other events that were being held in the same convention center (gymnastics and dance competitions I think) are not being held that same weekend, so perhaps it won't be much busier than last year. The cafe is great. The Sheraton was woefully understaffed and missed a huge revenue opportunity last year. It would be nice if they opened all of their restaurants/bars and staffed them appropriately this year.

really excited for this competition! first time we are going back to spirit cheer since it was in Hartford.
