Thunder All Stars in Canada is growing and we're so excited! This year we're offering:

    Tiny Prep
    Youth Prep
    Junior Prep
    Tiny 1
    Mini 1 (Lavender)
    Mini 1 (Purple Prodigy)
    Small Youth 2
    Medium Junior 1
    International Junior 2
    Small Senior 3

We're rebuilding the program to focus on stronger teams, regardless of level and I'm so happy to be a part of it!

    Junior 3
    Youth 3
    Senior 2

Mini and Tiny are done at prep level in gym, as well as any other level/interest that shows for prep placements in August :) That's when Cheer Abilities start as well.

This is awesome. We're taking a similar route this year. We don't to any type of placements until late July/August but thats similar to what we had last season (Tiny 1, Small Youth 1 & 2, Junior 1, International Junior 3, Senior 2 Open Coed 6). We're headed into our 5th year and a gym of about 100 athletes closed a few weeks ago, so it'll be interesting to see what we end up with as a result!

See we're smack in the middle of PCT, Cheer Sport Sharks and CheerForce Wolfpack (all within a 30 min drive), retention is always a biggie, but we're focused on growing our program through the littles that will become the future! Hopefully those athletes find a home at your gym!

I love that gyms are creating less teams and focusing on building the athletes that they have. I wish more gyms would follow that method instead of trying to create a team in almost every division and having kids double and triple team to keep it up.

Shout out to all the gyms fielding a 1-3 in at least 2 age brackets (or all 3!)

I know you can't control who comes into your doors but lower level growth/availability is so important.

    Especially with Juniors and Seniors.

I feel like kids coming into cheer who are older with limited experience often don't have a good starting spot. Ex: Hard to place a new 13 year old with little experience on a J4.

I second this. I came into cheer my first year and was placed on a Jr 5 team with level 3 tumbling and no stunting experience at all.
A level 2/3 team would have been so much better to start with, I played catch up for a good 2 years before I felt like my stunting skills and technique were up to par with everyone else in the level I was on.

Does anyone know why there seems to be a general focus this year on fewer, but larger teams? We're at a gym that almost always puts out medium teams, so it doesn't change things at our gym but I notice almost everyone else nearby is moving away from multiple small teams.
