It helps parents in their decision-making that you have the entire cost of the season spelled out right on the website. One of the other bigger gyms in the area won’t tell families until after team placement. There are several kids we know who tried out for that gym in the past few years and had to decline placements due to the shockingly high costs (nearly twice that of competitor gyms). Especially now it’s important to know what you’re getting into financially up front, I don’t doubt this is helping your numbers!

    Yes to knowing up front.

When I actively coached school cheer, my biggest thing was making sure the parents had concrete numbers on costs at the parent meeting before the student even decided to try out.

Different sport but I see the importance from a parent standpoint now that my kid is of the age to be interested in Little League.

In the process of looking around at leagues and rec options, this was huge for us.

If I couldn't get the full season cost spelled out in an email or on your website somewhere, I wasn't even reaching out about evals or registration.

Did you say England as in the country and Albuquerque as in New Mexico? That is a huge gap and random choice for a merger.

HotCheer Allstars in PA has closed. That was the first gym I was on an allstar team at, so sad. Not totally surprised by it though, their numbers seemed to have been declining some and I'm sure this all didn't help.

I know I keep saying wow to these but these long-running gym closures like State and HotCheer and others make me sad.

Yep. From looking at Instagram, I think one of the coaches (maybe the Head Coach?) at Vogue Athletics used to be a coach at Superstars and is now heading back to New Mexico and overseeing the merger? Something along those lines!

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm under the impression that Rockstarz and Victory are merging.

We just heard from some friends that VA All-Stars (small D2 gym in Fairfax) is becoming the latest Cheer Extreme expansion. No idea if there’s any truth to this, their website still shows tryout info as VA All-Stars. We briefly looked looked at them when they opened but felt their fees were too high for an unestablished gym.

I *think* that was Cheer Tyme VA a few years ago. Their last season would have been 2017-2018 as CT, and then went to VA All Stars.

Yes. True. I've seen flyers for CEA Fairfax tryouts June 13 and 14.

I just saw something on social media re: CEA Fairfax.

Question: I don't understand the DMV layout and distance. CEA also has Maryland and a location labeled DMV.

How far apart are these 3 places distance-wise? How do programs set up like this survive longterm?

If (example) Glitter Athletics A and Glitter Athletics B are like an hour apart, aren't you competing for kids with your other location?

(Unless it's a situation in which Glitter A is just tumbling classes and prep and Glitter B has actual competitive teams.)

If all 3 locations are actual competitive gyms with teams and Worlds teams, I don't see how that longterm works.

    Especially in COVID world.

I can't speak to the CEA locations or their distance, but we have locations that are within 30 minutes of driving time and you would be surprised at how little cross-town competition there is for athletes. There are a few who will switch, but that number is less than you would expect.

Within most relatively large metropolitan areas, parents are often not excited to drive very far or go past geographic "hurdles" like a particular major highway. In our Plano location, we have had people who flew in, drove hours each way, etc. from WAY out of town, but rarely have athletes from the opposite side of town.
