Sometimes I forget Mustafina is only turning 23 this year...

Again, Valentina Rodionenko is the one who says she hopes Mustafina would be back by the fall... this didn't come come from Mustafina herself,
so I'd take all this with a grain of salt.

Lol. True though. After reading the article, I was like meeh...Who in their right mind would think of training after giving birth..goodness

It's hard to get fit after pregnancy, let alone as fit as an Olympic gymnast, and especially in 4 months... I think it's all wishful thinking.

What she needs to do is rest and focus on herself and her child postpartum. Isn't Valentina a mom herself...? Lol

I have yet to see Laney Madsen on the balance beam, but it can't be too bad seeing as she just won an all-around title qualifying herself as a senior aged elite gymnast. Hopefully we'll get to see her routines in full during the U.S. Secret Classics and American Championships later this year, but in the mean time, here's a part of her uneven bars routine:
Laney Madsen - Uneven Bars

One of the only present day WAG to perform German giants (connected to a Pak too!!), unfortunately her feet did hit the ground right after this segment and she had to bend her knees.

I've been watching her training videos, and to my very untrained eye, it looks like she's weakest on vault. I'm curious on your opinion?

Her videos, whether in training or at a test competition, are far and few in between... so I can't comment. However, from what I've seen, she's able to squeeze in enough difficulty to make herself relatively competitive. In terms of form, she has quite a way to go though.

Learning how to get a good block on the vaulting table is probably the most difficult part for her, or any gymnast for that matter, on that apparatus. So I can see why she would be struggling with it if what you say is true.

Funny enough, the most recent YouTube video of her I can find is her Nfinity Legends 2017 submission... I guess she's not quite ready to let go of her cheerleading past just yet.

Sorry for the double post...
If anyone is curious, this is the most recent recording of any of Laney Madsen's routines I can find out there:
Laney Madsen - Floor

I still have to brush up on the new CoP for this quad (I'm not sure how much a double scorpion turn is worth), but her D-score should be around 5.7 - 5.8 range. She needs better choreography though, it feels a little dead in some parts.

That seems a bit high considering they dropped 0.5 on all the start values but either way period of her!

Her form is what always made me cringe when her dad would post her cheer tumbling videos on the boards. She has more talent in her pinky toe than I do in my whole body, and she's clearly always been fearless with great work ethic, but I don't know that her technique will ever catch up to her gymnastics peers. She has come LEAPS AND BOUNDS in technique versus when she was only cheering, I'll give her that. I see her goal is the 2020 games, but with her technique and the smaller olympic team size I don't know that I see it happening.

Is she a standout on any one event that she could ever make it as a specialist?
