I’m seeing a lot of backlash towards Team Belgium on social media (both towards the federation and individual gymnasts).

At least they withdrew and gave another team another chance? Rather than compete and only perform half-heartedly to spare themselves for EFs.

From having no idea whether she’ll step onto the international stage to a European Championships gold medalist, good on her:

I wish team France had hit everything, Russia would’ve still edged them out, but it would’ve been a more exciting race for gold.

Ragan Smith isn’t in a condition to compete... her coaches should be ashamed for not putting a stop to this. It will only get worse.

I feel bad for Ragan, she is one of those who peaked at the wrong time. Remind me, has she gone pro? If not, she should be looking towards college.

She has not gone pro and I believe she's committed to Oklahoma. Every time she did a hard landing I winced for her ankle, I wish she would just pull out of the competition and let herself heal so she can hopefully have a successful NCAA career.

Ragan makes me so sad. She is my favorite gymnast and should have gone to Rio and not as an alternate. In trials she placed fifth, that spot was really hers and she would have helped far more than Gabbie did that year.

They said she has multiple broken toes right now. I guess her competing outweighed her healing in their eyes... but to what benefit? I don't see her improving and staying healthy for the long haul to 2020 and making the 4 member team. I don't even currently really forsee her making the Worlds team. Let her heal and rehab and condition before she breaks another ankle.

She needs a few months off, a new coach, choreographer and new floor music. She has the talent, but seems broken mentally as well as physically. I'd love to see her focus on healing and make a fresh start in a completely different environment and give it one more shot.
In my opinion, Zmeskal is a prime example of "just because you were great at doing the sport doesn't mean you can coach it".

Just watched my recording of Nationals. I am here for Trinity all day everyday.

Ragan was a mess, it was hard to watch. I'm not even sure she peaked too early... She managed to be the best while everyone that was good was on a break, injured, or not competing. She was the best the year after the Olympics, which is the easiest time to win. I think she could be a lot better than she was then if they would let her heal, but her competing on that injury and looking like that screams poor coaching.

What is the merit in letting an athlete that was injured a year ago continue training and competing?
Don't they need a doctors note that they are fit to compete or atleast not forbidden to do so from a medical standpoint?
I can't imagine ANY doctor giving a green light to her competing, in general but especially not on floor&vault, as i imagine those to have the largest impact in the 4 rounds. And knowing that she is severely injured, why would you let her compete double layouts etc? I know that with "babystuff" she won't be able to medal, but letting her compete her regular routine is a big no no.
Kim zmeskal should have told her NO,benched her and allow her body to heal. If Ragan suffers lasting consequences from competing on that ankle, she should be held accountable and her parents as well for allowing it.

The lines on beam! That stuck triple on the floor!

I could seriously watch her all day.

Maybe not making the team will let her feel like she has the time and ability to get the surgery she needs.

Also, I'm happy for Trinity. My gym used to take us to Prestige occasionally to train in their pit equipment, and we would see them frequently at meets.
