Great things to say about Maryland Twisters! Girls from our division made friends with my team, staff from the gym approached us in our hotel with nothing but nice things to say, even the parents made friends with my mom. Such great sportsmanship from this gym and such a pleasure to go against them. I'm from ECE so we compete against them a lot and I look forward to seeing them every competition!

VIP area was a mess. There was no seating, mat was on floor and VIP area was standing room. There was a red carpet coming off of the mat into the VIP area which had the VIP area broken into two sections. Of course you were only allowed to stand in the left section for whatever reason - so any team that had more than 10 people in VIP someone wasn't going to be able to see them. I asked multiple times about allowing us to stand on the other side -which was WIDE open - and was repeatedly told no. This was especially troublesome if you have a large team with lots of parents/family, or a large program that supports each other.
After not being able to see my own kid on Saturday, I didn't even bother to go down on Sunday. I felt a little guilty and unsupportive, but I'm a shorty and I want to be able to SEE. Section 209 worked out quite nicely.

Not only was the VIP itself crowded, but the queue backed up so far that the concourse of the arena would get blocked. At one point, I had to weave through back to the far entrance of the ladies room because there was such a crowd up there.

I wish comps would always post scores, not just rankings. I trust that our coaches are doing their jobs and reviewing the scoresheet to make sure we were scored fairly but sometimes I just want to see how far we are score wise from other teams.

I have learned over the years that level of difficulty can trump a SB or TB. I have a friend who's CP is at a diff gym and last competition they hit their routine both days and had zero deductions and still came in 5th place. Their routine just isn't hitting the score sheet for their level so they aren't placing well.
The areas where we don't have the level of difficulty is tumbling and jumps. All tumbling passes are layouts though and we have about 3/4 team standing tucks and our jumps aren't the greatest, but reviewing the video from yesterday they are all in time. We do hit the score sheet on stunting though. With a team of 20 we have 6 2-man stunts and 5 flyers up at all times. We had a few tumbling problems a couple of steps out of standing tucks and a hand down on a tumbling pass. We had a couple of balance checks on stunting and a flyer came down early and one was caught a little strange, but no big deductions that I can see. The coach usually reviews the score sheet with the girls at practice which will be Tuesday so as of now I really don't know what the judges thought we didn't execute on. I didn't personally take a video or I would post it here. I only have video that parents took on my Facebook page and I don't know if or how I can post it. It was just so frustrating to everyone when we thought we probably had top 3 to get 6th. I guess going first in our division wasn't good either. But it is one competition and it is over and time to take the experience and learn from it and move on to the next competition.

Were you in SmSr4B? I wonder if you're who we picked to win.

Also worth mentioning, my CP told me warm ups were a mess and completely unorganized and she said everyone in warm ups was rude (not other athletes but the staff of Boardwalk Hall). She particularly didn't have nice things to say about the lady at the curtain going on stage. But my kid is a goof ball and we had a puker before us so there was extra time they were standing back there, so I'm sure my kid was acting a fool.

We had issues with VIP on Sunday. We had 3 teams there and all support each other so it was a big group. I made sure to stay back so parents would be up front and couldn't really see anything. It reminded me of worlds, but there was no area to line up fans like worlds had.

Warmups were tight, but I didn't think it was a mess and we didn't have any issues with staff. It was just a lot of teams in a tight place and there were obviously issues along with that.

It's been awhile since I competed in an arena/non-convention center, but I liked it overall. Though they've probably outgrown the place. We stayed at q casino and being able to just walk down the boardwalk to get there was really nice.

Got home at 5:30AM. Got onto 91N in CT and pretty much instantly the roads got bad. Thank goodness for my snow tires and my husband who is a night owl.

Yep, we thought you had it. I only saw one TD, and your routine was sharp!
Thank you. I've been an All Star cheer Mom for 8 years now and I can usually pick the top 3 teams at National Competitions, but with this competition I have never been so far off. Not just with our teams but on many of the levels we watched. Can't dwell on it and can't change the results. We were proud of our performances and we left there with our heads held high!

Thanks, it's nice when we hear good things like this from our gym. Our Large J4 team took a photo with their competitior before awards and I thought that was great.

Yes we were in small sr. B. Rams in white uniforms.
I thought that the RAMS had Small Senior 4 B, we were in Small Senior 4 B but unfortunately dropped a stunt and the pyramid was a mess so I knew we would place towards the bottom. I know there is alot of difficulty in our routine that keeps us high even when making one mistake (a dropped stunt even), we have placed high if not won sometimes. Too many mistakes for our team this time though.
