Figured it was worth bringing over here, this is Gabi's statement about the negativity towards her parents:

I haven't finished all the episodes but quick question, how was all this Gabi stuff not a violation of NCAA rules prohibiting athletes from making money for appearances or to be paid for advertisements that trade on their athletic skill? or is cheer/NCA not subject to those rules?

Cheerleading is not governed by NCAA.

Well, that explains it thanks. Surprising that is still the case but guess that is a whole 'nother thread...

I started and stopped midway through ep 2. Maybe I'll go back and finish it. Each episode seemed way too long.

I loved the length of the episodes, I didn't want them to end.

I agree with this. I actually liked the length of each episode because we got to see more stuff. But I do feel like some of the content was repeat too many times, which made some sections feel too long.

I will readily admit to sometimes fastforwarding through parts to get to the cheer footage, but only sometimes. I did enjoy their personal stories.

I think people their age and younger tend to see them on social media and assume they're naturally talented, or they're just magically good at cheer and have been forever, or that they come from money or perfect homes, etc.

They see the rings and cheer travel fun and think they were just lucky to be born good at it.

It's good for kids to see that people they admire weren't born good at cheer. It took years of work.

I felt the same as CheerBank. The length of each episode FELT long but they were only actually 56 ish minutes.

After the first episode I just knew I’d been on my couch for 4 hours but nope.

Idk. Maybe I just found the personal stories (which were my favorite aspect) heavy and draining so it made it seem longer.

56 minutes is long compared to what most shows with commercials run. Didn’t bother me.

I loved this series. I really felt like I knew all of these kids personally by the end. I have been to NCA College Nationals for the last three years and been blown away by Navarro and Trinity Valley teams. I love NCA college nationals. I love the glimpse into what might be going on in the life of my kid, because as the parent of a college cheerleader you are not involved in their lives to the extent you may be when they live at home and cheer all star on your dime. I do know a few kids on that team, and I’m even more excited for Daytona this year!

I'm afraid the size of the crowds this year will be significantly increased precisely because of this.

They have an upcoming Cheer Clinic on MLK Day. I am guessing it will be crazy crowded.

You are probably right, it's Easter week, a week later than usual so anything could happen. Also close to Worlds and Summit- who can afford that much time in Florida? Fingers crossed. I will be watching a different division this year I think so not sure what to expect (although I often watch several divisions) And there are always crowds around Navarro and TVCC. And it will be mostly different people than were on the show. Monica will have to hide though.
