College cheerleading in the 1970s featured sweaters, pleated skirts, knee-high socks and saddle shoes, and towering pyramids. In other words, cheerleading back then was different than it is today.

My favorite is when they cut to the judges....the judge in the pink suit, fur coat and big glasses. When you're at a comp and you see THAT at the judge's table, you'll know I'm judging :)
 
I love the Louisville one from 1984 and I believe James Speed is in the routine. Funny to look back and see how far cheer has come.
 
This is actually pretty cool to watch, just to see how cheer has changed from then to now. Oh and thank god for 2 and half minute routines. That has to be a long competition if every team there did a 7 and a half minute routine.
