The big gyms want to keep their enrollment up so they will have their best athletes crossover. Its sad, for the true level kid, who just wants to compete with their team.

I guess I'm just old fashioned or have morals, but I think that if a team was good enough to get you The Summit bid (regardless of the competition they did or did not have) you should trust that that same team, as it is, is good enough to take to The Summit. Winning isn't everything - it's awesome and it is the end goal - but if you had to stack your team (cheat) to win, did you really win? It's just sad. Our girls are looking forward to a rematch with a team they went head to head with at UCA, but I'm worried we won't see the same girls at The Summit. I am not aware of this particular program stacking their teams, but I can't say for sure. Ugh - so frustrating!!!

It's pretty much the same as why the MLB World Series is televised all over the world while the MiLB World Series or Championship series isn't. Because it's Level 5. The best of the best in All-Star cheer. If TV wants to reach an audience outside of the cheer world, they are going to televise an event to showcase the top athletes in the sport. It is what it is. It's no different in any other sport where in high school, varsity sports are spotlighted and in pro sports, the major league teams are spotlighted.

This is not the case with all big gyms. We attend a large gym. In five years at that gym I have never known them to pull kids from a team with the intent of replacing them with higher level athletes to obtain a win. If it's necessary to use a crossover they will utilize an individual from the same level or a lower level to fill that spot. The only exception to this that I know of, is if they have to have someone fill in for their Senior Level 1 team. There is no lower level team to pull from in which case they have to use an athlete from a higher level team. And you know what ? Despite this policy they bring home the titles and their enrollment is increasing significantly annually.

For me personally I would not be comfortable with my child attending a gym that stacked teams. We've competed against level 2 teams full of level 4 and level 5 athletes before. It wasn't fair and it was devastating to the athletes who have worked so hard and their parents who have sacrificed so much. Although let it be said stacked teams aren't always victorious in their unethical endeavors. Stacked teams can be beat. It happens.

Technically speaking, Summit has Level 5 teams. Restricted Level 5 performs at Summit but does not compete at Worlds.

As for why Summit doesn't have ESPN televised coverage, only athletes and parents would watch. There's no profit in televising that. Although I'd like to watch it myself.

Bottom line...Anything below Level 5 has the potential of sandbagging.
