This really hits the special needs/cheer abilities athletes and their families hard .
Looking at it solely from the cheer side I wholeheartedly agree with you. As a taxpayer, however, I want the people enjoying those facilities for entertainment to pay for them. Those property taxes hit the elderly and poor hard, and if it's between grandma and siblings not being able to see my child cheer or the elderly or poor no longer being able to afford the taxes in our county, I'll vote higher fees for facility usage every time.
Being out of the loop for so long I looked at the admission pricing for Encore coming up the 15th and 16th. I have to pay $45 CASH to get in both days. On top of the money I was forced to pay for a hotel because its S2P.
I am so glad she is just doing this year. She already wants to quit but I'm making her finish the season because she begged to do this and I've already paid for it.
During CP's last year cheering I was surprised by the amount of parents who dropped and ran from the competition. They chose to hang out in the lobby of the hotels/convention centers or in their cars until it was time to leave. They refused to pay to watch their children perform.
ETA: There were also a few families who would travel as a whole, but only 1 adult would pay to watch (normally mom) and dad/siblings would hang out.
Can you imagine if all parents/spectators decided to boycott paying cash entry fees one event.
I hate to be a cynic, but I doubt it would ever happen.
I know it won’t. Suzie’s mom could not miss 2:30.. I can dream of the impact it could have.
So so all $$ to watch and this is where they put parents! Ugh picture won’t work....any way it is the very back of arena
