    ...That's an absolutely terrible choice.

Oh wow, that's quite a different choice.
But actually could work really well... I like Taran Killam, thought he was very unfairly dismissed from SNL. If he tones it down and doesn't overact too much this could work well.

However, I hope this doesn't signal the start of 'celebrity' castings in Hamilton.

I feel like the king role would be perfect for celebrities. Its a relatively small part and just required you to sing a little. Id love to see steve martin or stephen colbert play that role. Even if it was for a week or so, to get people in (which isnt a problem yet) or for fundraisers.

The last few NYC King Georges have all been big celebs within the theatre world: Jonathan Groff, Andrew Rannells, and Rory O'Malley. Extending it to outside theatre celebs would be so cool, imo.

I get what you're saying – and the King role is most suited for a celebrity cameo – but to me the spirit of Hamilton is that the actors are unknown. I love that they're not household names, and that they don't at all resemble the actual people they're portraying. Sort of brings home the fact that their message (the American dream) is universal, and available for everyone. Maybe I'm looking too far into it, but that's what I've always seen. If Steve Martin were to pop up, it would be a bit jarring, as much as I love him.

So I hope they stick to casting mostly Broadway people. And it's not like Hamilton needs any boost in ticket sales that would come from casting a celebrity...

I'd say Jonathan might be more of a celebrity than Taran. (Glee fans can be a bit intense...)
It would be kind of neat if they did the same sort of thing with the king as they did with "Sir Not Appearing in This Show" in Spamalot. I'm more excited about Alysha returning. And confused we STILL don't know who the new Lafayette/Jefferson is, since Seth's contract is only until the end of the year.

The new George Washington (Bryan) was Marvin Gaye in Motown. And while I'm disappointed they didn't get James Monroe Iglehart, he's a great choice.

    Not a Hamilton post.

Good Morning America had a small segment for Andrew Lloyd Webber this morning since he has 3 shows on Broadway right now and they mashed up Cats, Phantom, and School of Rock. I was skeptical at how good that would be but it was great. Gotta find a video to post for yall.

I think I prefer the old Dewey... But this was surprisingly pretty good. (I cracked up at the kids' faces during the "Memory" section. Mostly because I'm pretty sure I had the same look on my face.)

That's exciting! Based off Snapchat and Instagram stories (plus a not so legal audio recording), it's just as good as the Broadway production.

(I know this is old but I wanted to share. Also, I don't know anything about Hamilton.)

I won the lottery for In Transit yesterday (no Ham lottery on Christmas) and we saw it last night. Was very cute and done completely a capella. Nothing ground breaking but we enjoyed it. Circle in the Square is such a small theatre, every seat is great.

Has anyone seen (or planning to see) Ride the Cyclone? It had a fairly successful run out here, and I'm curious to see how it's doing in such a different market.
And I still can't decide on Great Comet. On one hand, it's probably the only chance I'll have to see Josh Groban live. But on the other hand, tickets are a little expensive. (Still haven't given up on Hamilton...)
