There's a particular cheer-lebrity (who I'm not sure if I can outright identify here so I'll just call her "G") who gets a lot of heat on social media for bouncing around gyms. I don't get it. What's the problem? If I had her skills and KNEW that I could probably make any team I wanted, I would too. I'd take myself on a North American tour and collect all the medals and cute uniforms I wanted along the way. I'd start at WCSS, swing down to TG in Florida, make a left over to CEA, then head over to CA in Texas and back home to Cali. As long as she's not leaving teams mid-season -- which she's not because contracts won't allow it -- I don't see the issue. And I would think any self-respecting cheerleader would jump at the chance to travel the country while cheering at the highest level and also getting paid to model in Italy during the offseason. FFS.

Maybe it's just haters looking for things to snark at. But her life looks amazing so I don't think she cares much either way.

Anyway, can someone enlighten me about this? Is there like an unspoken AS rule that she's breaking that I'm unaware of?

There is no rule against that. It's her life, it's her choice. She doesn't owe any explanation to anyone about that. All those immature haters need to mind their own business.

I honestly wonder if she goes where she is needed most? Once the season is over, if she is open to going another season, a gym reaches out and says hey, we could really use you this season. I see nothing wrong with it. It's not the norm but hey, she has something that most teams want.

If OP is referring to who I am thinking of, my only question is, isn’t she still in college (and cheering for said college)? At a school in a very different part of the country? I just wonder how she makes it work with her team/practices...does she fly in/out every weekend?

It exhausts me even thinking about how she balances the school cheer program, school and all stars at all of those different programs/locations...

I believe she does but I have also seen tweets that maybe said school cheerleaders aren’t enrolled the same way normal students are. I don’t know but I’m Sure the school team is in full swing with NCA coming up.

As long as she finishes the season with picked team for the year, nothing is wrong with this.

Is this about a person filling in on Reckless? If so, she's doing a huge favor for the coaches who really needed a level 6 flyer. That gym has been plagued with some serious injuries this season.

I think it's okay discuss her name, right? At least if we're talking about who I think we're talking about. She's been talked about around here even when she was a minor. Her father used to post here too.

But I don't understand how she can be called a gym hopper in this situation. She wasn't even doing all-star before NCA. It's not like she packed her bags and left another team high and dry midseason.

IDK about her specific movements lately. All I see on social media is people shading her for going from TG to Cali to Wildcats to whoever. I say more power to her. She’s only going to be capable of these skills for a short period in her life. She should make them work for her however she wants to.

    ETA: changed “Stars” to “TG.”

Not sure who we're talking about but I think folks forget that:

    1. These are minors or college-aged kids.

    2. This is not a professional sport.

Kids in a nonprofessional activity may move as they please.

Actually, scratch that. I think I don't know who we're talking about anymore?

You probably know. I said “Stars” when I meant “TG.” Oops.

Gabi Butler. She's 21, it's ok to use her name I think. She filled in on Reckless at NCA, she was not with another gym this season.
