I blame coaches and parents. Once again, no athlete owes loyalty to any one gym. If you pay then its a service. The team that treated her like that is totally ignorant of what any sports creed is. I know the USASF doesn't promote it but there isn't any punishment if it happens. If u flip it, I bet you a million dollars that the gym in question tried to recruit at a competition or during the season. What's the difference? It's not loyalty, it's being morally ethical and they should have been nice to her. I have many athletes at other gyms, I hug them, tell them I love them and take photos. It's a shame and I am sad your child had to go through that.I agree whole-heatedly with finishing what you start and we teach our CP the same value. We have watched over the years folks come and go in the middle of a season, 2 days before a comp for various reasons, etc.
Our decision to try a another gym was done with the utmost respect. I didn't go around talking about our decision during the season at anytime. We finished the season, right. I'm guessing this is why it came as such a huge shock to some who had no idea until the end of summer.
Fast Fwd to last comp with new gym and CP was excited she would be able to see coaches/teams/kids from old gym. She got the surprise of her life, they treated her like crap, wouldn't speak to her and called her names. It hurt her feelings so much she had no idea she would be treated that way. There ignorance just created another teachable moment for us.
No loyalty in cheer or any sport for that matter.
