Ok so I read the beautiful, powerful, poem from flyers to their bases. Does anyone know of any poems from bases to their flyers? I would REALLY appreciate it :)

I don't have one about bases to flyers, but my sister has one about overall all star cheerleading. It's pretty beast, I should post it sometime

well, i'm not a great poet, but i do love poetry. and it's not so much a base to a flyer, but just about basing in general. :)

I've never been the tiny one
but rather, that tall girl
and I remember my first practice
that then changed my whole world.
My amazing group, my lovely girls
it was our own sisterhood,
dedicated to working hard
through the hopeless and the good.
And though we'd fall, so many times
and we often filled with shame,
we knew inside we could try again
and never placed the blame.
Over and over our stunts improved-
we added that stretch tick tock
and I would always be there
when you felt you'd hit a block,
fearing you wouldn't hit it right
or it wouldn't be enough
then i'd be there for comfort
saying, “don't worry girl, we're tough.”
Then competitions came, those stressful times
of hoping we would succeed
and each time we hit, our hearts filled up;
we'd walk off the mat with glee.
And though you got the glory
with all those action pics
inside my heart was leaping too
because I helped you hit those tricks.
And yes it hurt, my arms would burn
after all those 8 count rounds
but I know that it was worth it
because you never hit the ground.
And when people asked about the marks
and the bruises on my face
I looked at them with a big fat smile
and said “well, I'm proud to be a base”

This is great!
It should be a song.
"I'm proud to be a base,
where atleast I know.."
That's what the last line reminded me of.

Kay. 15 minutes, based on the last poem. Here I go.

A Base's Thanks.

To my dearest flyer, for always being there
And for trusting us enough to let us put you in the air.
I know sometimes we fall, but you can stick it just like glue
So to my gorgeous flyer, because this one is for you.

For all those times we've cradled, and punched you in the face
For all those times we fell, but you never lost your grace
For all those times, when things went bad
We could blame you, but know that we were just mad.

Sorry for the baskets that we should have pushed higher
Sorry for the screaming, but you are a good flyer
But when I was panicing- 'Stick it!' I would scream,
And you pulled it in tight, and did it for the team

For all the times you were tired, and muscles all so sore
You braved it out, we tanked it up, and stretched a little more
For all the times, when you're too scared to try something new.
Know that we got your back, and we also got your foot.

Blood sweat and tears, thats what basing brought
But in the end it's worth it, so know you will get caught

I know it can't be easy, holding all your weight
Just know you always look gorgeous, and make all our stunts look great
So even if we drop one, don't shed a single tear
We'll have you back in the air, and grinning from ear-to-ear

So to all the times we've stuck it, and never ever gave up
It's all because of you twisting, that we can take away the cup
I love basing you even if you get all the glory
In the end practice tells a different story
So thank you flyer for everything you've done
Without you and our stunt group, cheering wouldn't be so fun
The bond we share, we are sisters true
So I thank you from the bottom of my heart
And in the end I know; it's all because of you.

Thank you Thank you Thank you!!! You guys are awesome! We are having flyer and base appreciation day and i found the first poem from the flyer to her bases. And although, yes, the flyer does get most of the glory, i wanted something to show that EVERY SINGLE PERSON is a stunt group is important for making it work. You can be a beast backspot but if the flyer can't stretch or hold her own, then what good is the stunt? It definitely takes 100% from every person in the group. :) Thank you for the poetry! I will definitely give credit where credit is due!
