There were no topic on ICU world cheerleading championships 2016 so I decided open a one.
Like in previous years, the cheer divisions will be divided into the following divisions:
All girl Elite (level 5 rules)
    Coed Elite (level 5 rules)
    All girl Premier (level 6)
    Coed Premier (level 6)

USA will send national teams (selected in January) like as usual but this year Finland will also send a national team for All girl Premier division (previously the national champion was representing the country).
The most interesting division in my opinion is definitely Coed Premier. Will USA coed be able HIT (last time was maybe in 2010, correct me if I am wrong) and take back the gold medal from Chinese Taipei who won last year? And what does Finland and all other countries who keep going better and better every year?

In All girl Premier it is US vs Norway (aka Viqueens Spirit) vs Finland? And what does Canada ? So far they havent been able to really hit their routine (and scoreheet).

Hopefully this year the live stream works better than last year....

Im looking forward to seeing the scandinavian countries. They always do soo good! I know my country (sweden) is not up to par yet but we are getting there. this year will be the second with a real national team in coed premier. I also look forwatd to all girl premier with Gothenburg Cheer One (GCO) Wildcats as team sweden also for a second year! I also love watching other teams grow from each year to the next! And I love Team Norway!

It seems like Canada has had trouble since they moved to Premier. Not sure if it was lack of prep, different coaches, skills are too hard? But with the way they dominated Elite, I'm glad the push was made to move up. But I think tumbling will always hurt them as compared to team USA. We just don't have the college teams pumping out the number of athletes the USA does who can tumble well on a dead floor (we have some, but not as many as the USA can pull from).

In ICU the building skills are more important than tumbling (60% vs 20% if I am not wrong), for example countries like Finland and Norway in All Girl do not have many fulls (and only in running tumbling) but clean layouts and very strong elite sections and pyramids. In Coed Premier the countries whose elite section is done without a second base, are the strongest (USA and Chinese Taipei really stand out here). But to beat USA in both divisions, strong tumbling and even stronger building skills are required!

I'm so happy that 8 of the people selected for Team Canada Coed are from Manitoba! 6 of them train with our program and will also attend worlds with our IOC6 :cheering:

I look forward to see Denmark all girl! They impressed me last year, I was not expecting them to be that good. I also look forward to see Finland all girl. Since they have combined the best all girl teams in their country, they will be a very strong team. They might even be able to challenge Norway and USA.

Norway is bringing back a coed premier team, they didn't have one last year.

I know that both Finland all girl and VQ Spirit (=norway all girl) are doing BHS fullup (GT Golden girls did that last year's worlds in the stunt section and Morehead all girl as well), if they are actually in the routine and done by majority of the stuntgroups, they can really challenge USA. But in the past years, USA all girl has been very consistant by hitting their routine and so far that has been enough.

For those who want to watch, you can do so here. They just started with the opening ceremony. You can also find the order of performance, etc. there

So for the millionth year in a row they're still playing that R Kelly song over and over in opening ceremony. Which probably means we'll be hearing the same victory song too

EDIT: I stand corrected they a their songs lol

Apparently the music guy must really like R Kelly because it's just a different song repeated over and over this year.

I've heard the same two songs as the several previous years (World's greatest and A sign of victory).
