I am looking for ideas for gifts for the team for an upcoming competition. What do you love? What have you done before? I don't want to spend more than $5 an athlete.

I've done a competition survival bag before: bobby pins, travel hair spray, water bottle, orange, granola bar, makeup wipes, extra hair ties.

I like the survival bag idea. I'm overall not a fan of gifts for competition. The thought is nice, but then it always seems to become a competition among parents of who can one-up each other.

Our parents seem to mostly include snacks for the girls, and a small water bottle and maybe something small and fun.

One thing that I've loved this season is one of the moms has been making us these small laminated index cards for each competition. Each one has the comp name, date, and location as well as either a team picture, quote, or one of our sayings, or some combination of the above. They have a little hole punched and for the first one we got a keychain ring for us to attach all of them to our backpack as the season goes on. You could do it for just one comp, or something to think about for next season maybe. We also got the mini keychain bow on the left in the pic from another mom.

We've received socks in the past - white ankle socks, sometimes with a gym or competition name/logo. Then we all sign each others socks and wear them for the competition. The signatures stay hidden in the shoes, but they were considered our lucky socks for that day

We had a mom with a Cricket (sp?) who vinyl monogrammed so much cute stuff for my cp's team! Someone found cute paddle hairbrushes in our gym colors and she monogrammed each. Cups, beach bags for our beach comp (girls got beach towels with team name but those were screen printed) monogrammed blankets for NCA, Christmas ornaments w/team name & monogram....the list goes on and on. Really nice things, and we had parents who enjoyed finding this stuff. It was expensive though...we pooled $$ and ended up paying over $150 each for all of these gifts.

Our school team does this. They do a night before goody bag type gift and a day of gift (one was a consumable type and one was a keepsake). Are you thinking a goodybag type or a keepsake type?

Most teams at our gym do this too. This year, CP asked for a Christmas tree in her bedroom with her gym's colors. I got her one and we used the tags from last season as ornaments.
