Riddle me this, how do two teams that get the highest scores in a competition and not even get an At Large bid? It’s hard to think this competition is fair with the way it’s handled. It’s wrong and we aren’t teaching kids that hard work is rewarded. The way Summit bids are handled needs to change.

Did the teams say they would only accept paid bids?

Nope. And honestly they should have gotten a paid bid, they had the highest score of all teams in the comp, including worlds teams.

Are you sure they don't already have a bid?

That sounds like a mistake. I have seen many many mistakes with how bids are awarded. Usually the event producer will make it right.

I thought that this year it was pretty clear cut and score based how bids were awarded. So this is something that a gym owner can easily address.

So far the comps and bids I’ve seen were awarded to the highest in each level.
The ones I’ve seen were pretty right on based on scores. It’s possible there was a mistake in the awarding.

Hopefully the competition will make it right. But at this point the bids have been awarded, do you take it away from the others? Would you take a bid if you knew you truly didn’t deserve it? It’s a mess, that’s for sure.

I feel like there is information missing in this post to even comment.

Nope, you’re not missing anything. A team that scored the highest in a competition, won their entire division (grand champs) got snubbed on getting a Summit bid. They didn’t have a bid going into the competition, they did not say they would only take a paid bid, they didn’t pass the bid up, they just weren’t awarded a bid. Teams that scored lower than them got bids. So I ask if the bidding process is political, as I suspect it is.

ARE you 100% positive? Where is the information? Can you share? Just seems odd... usually the reason that score wouldn't has already been covered above. If it was an error, it would be made right... I find it really hard to believe that it would be do no reason at all.

I’m 100 percent positive. I can’t share much more without outing the competition and gym, but the team had the top score of the entire comp, grand champs, and no bid. I’m waiting to see if the competition makes it right.

Was this a 2 day or 1 day comp? I ask because I thought only WC were given at 1 day and AtLG and PAID at 2 day? And does the highest score in the entire competition rule apply to 2 day comps for bid awards? If so and everything you mentioned above is correct you may have a valid argument that a mistake may have been made somehow. But, I do not think it is POLITICAL because all of the comps we have been to this season (four 1 day comps so far) have awarded bids based off scores pretty accurately. And we have seen some of those teams repeat as division winners win with the highest score at more than one event and the only reason why they did not get a "bid" was because they had already grabbed one at another comp. So again it may very well be a mistake and the gym owners should talk to the EP for more information. Now, this would not be a problem if they would just release the raw scores especially since bids are based entirely off of the score this season or at least post the team score of the team who won the bid in the bid reveals. A lot of comps (not all but a lot) are posting scores. I saw that COA and UCA both posted day 1 scores as well as final scores this weekend. There have been others I've looked at that posted scores.
