I'm on a level 4 team this season but next season I want to try out for a level 5 team. What tumbling and stunting skills should I have before tryouts for next season? I have practices twice a week and tumbling classes 1-2 times a week to work on everything.

Thanks!!

Every team is different. The best bet is to either ask your coaches or watch and see what skills the L5 team is throwing now.

Every team is different but I would say these are the basic skills you need for level 5:

Tumbling
  • roundoff handspring full
  • standing 2 handsprings full
  • 3 or more jumps to tuck
Stunts
I don't know if you base or fly but either way these are the basic stunts that you will need for level 5
  • high to high tick-tock
  • double down from position (arabesque, heel stretch, scale, etc.)
  • kick double basket
  • full or 1 1/2 up to lib
those are what I would consider to be the base level 5 skills, but depending on your gym the requirements might be different, like needing a double instead of a full for example, or needing a specialty pass.

It depends on your team or gym. At our gym you must generally have a specialty through to full or a rbhs to a double for a world's team. Unless you are a specialist that is needed for a particular stunting skill.

I think the base is to get a running full and standing tumbling to full (like 2 to full then 1 to full) then you can branch off and add more difficulty
