2 year's ago Varsity didn't renew it's vender contract with Nfinity so Nfinity wasn't able to sell their shoes at any of the big competitions it had had access to for years before. (I found out because I was planning to buy my CP's cheer shoes at Big Top like I had done the last 6 years and found out by reading here that Nfinity wouldn't be there due to having no contract. I went to Nfinity in ATL to buy them straight from them instead) Last year Nfinity branched out to competitions, they provided part of the prize for The Major's winner 2 years ago, they opened Nfinity stores blocks from NCA and Cheersport for their customer's to come buy their merchandise and now is supporting The Champions League.

    I say Rock on Nfinity!!

My problem with these "invitation-only" exclusive competition-amongst-competitions, particularly the Champions League, is not so much that they are hurting the unity created by Worlds as much as they are sort of perpetuating the same aura of shadiness that made certain industry leaders want to create other options besides USASF Worlds in the first place. Had the "league" been more transparent with the details of who was responsible for forming it, then it would make more sense why certain teams that aren't exactly the best of the best in their respective divisions were invited. It also makes me wonder if certain teams will ever be invited due the "in-crowd only" vibe that this particular event gives off. Of course, the coaches of the teams that actually were invited probably feel that there is nothing at all shady about it, but image is what people on the outside think. I'm pretty sure there are more than a few outsiders who still don't get it.

I'm all for having other Olympic-like options, but every team should have the equal opportunity to qualify for any and all of these events based SOLELY on specific guidelines dealing with pure skill in the current season rather than an expired track record of winning or a history being a fan favorite. As of now, I don't see these types of events advancing our industry as much as I see them ONLY benefiting the big name programs who are already at top of the ladder.

I've said it before and I'll say it again but no matter how you feel about them, the Mega Gym's in this sport are the one's that bought into the World's concept and sold it to their parents and athletes as "The Be All to End All" not to mention the fan base they brought with them. Gym owners/coaches made it the "next cool thing". My question is (generally speaking/ not directed toward you cheerfan1234) what happens when the gym owner's decide you're not cool anymore??

Disclaimer.....I am not saying I think this is what's happening with the branch off IEP event's but it deserves a mention.

I don't predict there being a significant change in the teams attending Worlds this year so I think everyone is safe in attending in 2014. I'm pretty sure that if Revolution and The Champions League go off well this year and have increasing support next year that 2016 could see the beginning of some of these major teams pulling out. Heck, CEA already owns a Worlds floor. :)

I kinda laugh when I see someone call "worlds" and Olympic style event. Uhhh if your not in an international division its just a one day national! The "best of the best" already do compete at one event... NCA! all of the top teams at worlds already competed a month earlier there! And, over TWO days so if you want to see the BEST thats the place to go! International teams have competed there for years. I mean truly when the same six teams in large sr compete over two days and one is a NATIONAL champion then they go to the comp in FL, compete one time then supposedly they are WORLD champions and some how more prestigious?? yeah that makes a lot of sense!! Heck NCA was handing out bids to 18th place teams! The only reason worlds got such a name was because all the cheerleaders got to have fun together at the all star resort and play at Disney! if they moved to to any other city I'm sure it wouldnt be as big a deal to the cheerleaders. Think vacation with cheer! Bottom line worlds is just a name/word (which is why varsity/usasf is protecting the word Worlds) and its just a fundraiser for USASF/VARSITY. The best thing that could happen would be for it to disappear.

I'm sorry, but as a mom to a eat, sleep and be cheer 11-yr-old Y3 CP, moving through the levels year by year, Worlds is her ultimate goal so far. She watches these Worlds videos over and over. She definitely does not want Worlds to disappear. We do go to Dallas, too, and she absolutely loves it. She is excited to attend this year as Y3, but she believes attending Worlds is something she will do one day and I hope so, too.

I am sorry to hear that Nfinity is pulling out of sponsorship, but with Varsity making their own shoe, (??) we still have Varsity uniforms and Nfinity shoes and we walked to the Nfinity store in Dallas last year and plan on making the walk again this year, too. Good luck to Nfinity, CP loves the shoes and the backpack. Worlds, please stay.

uhhh... the olympics (depending on the sport) is very much like the cheer worlds. in gymnastics you compete with your team and if your scores are high enough, you qualify for the next round (individual events/all-around.) no scores are carried over to the next day of competition. and swimming.. if you win your heat and your score qualifies, you continue moving on until the final competition that determines the gold medal winner. same goes for diving and track and field. there are plenty of athletes that go to the olympics and compete only once.

i would never call the cheerleading worlds anywhere near as prestigious as the olympics, but your rationale is kind of flawed, IMO.

My cp feels the same way, but if another comp becomes as prestigious as Worlds once was, I think she will be able shift gears and set that as her goal. We're all so afraid of the unknown that it is hard to imagine another comp with the perceived status of Worlds, but Worlds took quite a number of years to establish it's place in the industry. There's no reason to think another comp couldn't become as equally if not more successful and desirable to attend, especially if it is harder to earn a spot in than Worlds currently is and all the big names attend as well so it is true competition.

Well, at least it's obvious now.

I think there now a much more clear draw between the two different types of 'cool' kids in the industry (RE: Mega gyms). Gyms that lean under Varsity/USASF, and those that don't. Seems like the latter is growing, though..and it's things like the Varsity-owned gyms competing at Varsity comps business that I believe make it a little more awkward.

You're right, and I completely agree that innovation is good thing if it's based on talent, equal opportunity, and INTEGRITY. Popularity contests and fake friendships were "cool" in the 7th grade.

And there are other, non Olympic "World" competitions where all the same teams that will compete against each other at the Olympics meet. The Olympics also are not the only time those teams compete against each other. So I agree, flawed rationale.
