We are flying in around noon on Thursday (2/26) for NCA and we have nothing to do until practice on Friday (2/27) at 7pm. Any recommendations of fun things (non-cheer related) to do for 12-14 year olds in the Dallas area?
Eat a hamburger at Maple and Motor. Best in the city. Maple & Motor | Burgers and Beer And eat anything at Lucky's Diner. Lucky's Cafe Both are reasonably priced and fantastic.
The Perot Museum in Downtown Dallas Perot Museum of Nature and Science Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum in Grand Prairie Ripley's Believe It or Not! Grand Prairie, TX Grand Prairie Outlet Mall Grand Prairie Top Golf (this is all the rage right now in DFW...all the teens love it) Fun Things to do in Dallas, TX | Topgolf Dallas Six Flags in Arlington opens 2/28 which I think is a Friday so that may not work. The stockyards in Fort Worth are fun, especially if you get there in the afternoon when they are leading the longhorns down main street to go home.
Looks like the cattle drive is every day at 11:30 am and 4:00 pm. That looks like it would be so much fun to watch. I love longhorns!
Last year we drove to Dallas Stadium For a tour. Too bad CP threw up the whole time. she is looking forward to going this year and enjoying it.
The year they had their first game I got a private tour with my dad's financial group. It was amazing. Got to see everything but the Dallas Cowboy cheerleader locker room!
We have a competition in ft worth every year where the cattle is and we always stay in the stockyards. 3 years in a row we stayed in the same hotel and watched the same cattle and we have won that comp every time. This year we had people with us from other teams and they won ACA too. So maybe it's the cattle. Maybe I should go watch the cattle Friday even though it's not exactly close! Oh and if you are in ft worth don't drink the water, or soda or anything that has anything to do with that water. It's so nasty! Lol
Magic Time Machine- it's a themed restaurant that doesn't have the absolute best food but all of the waiters/waitresses are dressed as characters and they really act the part...... Magic Time Machine We are also a fan of Chuy's tex mex (LOVE their creamy jalapeno- seriously liquid crack lol) Chuy's Dot Com not a fan of the chimichanga though As for things to do-I agree with the previous posters- We used to live about an hour away and would LOVE to be back home- take plenty of pics
If you are traveling with any Dads or car lovers, go visit Gas Monkey garage. We went last year and watched them film an episode. It is a quick trip that you can do in a couple of hours and it put DH in a happier mood for the rest of the weekend #winwin "You are only responsible for being honest, not for someone else's reaction to your honesty."
The ones I always get had way too much cheese in them- like choking on cheese lol..... my personal fav is the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom enchiladas...... oh and before allergies kicked in- their tres leche cake......OMG
Northpark Mall - Lots of good shopping, restaurants, people watching NorthPark Center | High Fashion & Luxury Shopping in Dallas The entire city is iced in right now and temps will be in the 40s on Friday. It should warm up to 70s by Sunday. If it does warm up, check out Klyde Warren Park Klyde Warren Park | Klyde Warren Park The Perot Museum is fun, but usually very crowded and a little pricey. But if you enjoy museums, it is a good one to go to. The Dallas World Aquarium is nice but also expensive. There are some good restaurants on Greenville Avenue (DALLAS GREENVILLE AVENUE | The Official Dallas Greenville Avenue Guide to Restaurants, Attractions and Things To Do and I highly recommend Steel City Pops Steel City Pops | Gourmet pops made from all-natural & local ingredients
