Not a fan of Coed Elite. Tsk tsk. I mean, the talent is there but their routine is just blah!
It's very slow and cookie cutter.
CEA, in general, has lacked strong choreography for a while IMO. They either don't choreograph to show their strengths or they don't give the teams appropriate choreography. I wish they brought in different choreographers.
On Cali Junior Mafia during one the first stunts when the boy isn’t participating but in front of the mat just watching the stunts go is sort of distracting. I’m trying to figure out if he is helping or about to tumble.
I'll say it:
Whoever is choreographing for them is giving them the SAME routine basically every year.
It is particularly obvious with Senior Elite but true with Coed Elite as well.
Then they also never add upgrades that I can see?
I'm not saying you need to go all out WCSS style and go get a theme and get crazy. Everyone can't do that.
But switch up to paper doll full around queen crown music etc. two to three seasons in a row HAS to get old. Those kids HAVE to be more talented than that. It's weird.
True. Also never suggest that to CSP on Twitter because she gets super defensive and it wasn’t even a snarky comment that was made.
I don't understand it. I am not one to claim to know every single thing about a gym but from what I know, a good number of those kids (both on SE and Coed) have been cheering level 5/6 for a long time. They can probably attempt a lot more than the choreo they're presented with.
A lot double team between the junior coed and c4 teams and the routines are more entertaining in my opinion.
This. All of this. It's not that the routine is "bad" by any means - it hits the scoresheet well. But it is not the best in the division to me by any means. If other teams hit, I find it hard to believe that SE would come out on top. I will say though, they have definitely improved over the last few years, noticeable difference in the pace of the routine since 2016 or so until now. Bravo.
im sure CSP knows the scoresheet better then any of us here, so i doubt she's recycling stunts if she thinks they dont score well. But for the first time in like ever, i think other teams out stunt SE. And i have NEVER thought that anyone could out stunt SE. You want to recycle a stunt or two fine, or bring back an old pyramid element great. But i feel like after 2 seasons of doing the same elements, its time to move on from a stunt element and do something different. I understand there is only so much creativity, but id much rather see some super clean boring stunts, then any more "innovative" scorpion stunts.
The guy with the poms at the front of the mat is killing me. Luckily at x-evolution he’s in the shadows, but it is still so distracting to me. At first I thought it was just a showcase thing but now I’m concerned they’ll be there all season.
Some videos he was front and center. I spent more time looking at him then the routine.
IMO, SS ticks every box in my book. We haven't even seen F5 and Orange yet so I'm still holding out for SE.
Orange elite stunt section and opening were featured in October:
They’re doing a little upgraded throwback of 2013, hence the “Hey Siri” in their music too.
Orange's elite is pretty safe but they usually have the clean factor/execution. Clean Orange is very hard to beat in most situations.
Can't wait to see how this season goes. After last year, I am not counting anyone out.
