How do you/your coaches keep a team motivated in the summer before you get choreography? Are you given goals as a group or a team that you have to hit?

My coach will say things like "By the end of this practice I need 5 different groups with solid libs, 10 punch fronts, and 12 aerials" or something, so that gives us something to work on for that practice... They put us in a formation based on jumps and when we do jumps they switch us around - like if my toetouch is bad that day I'll get moved back, etc and so that motivates us in terms of jumps, because everyone wants to get to the front! But a lot of the time we're just trying out different stunt groups or working on tumbling and summer really requires you to motivate yourself to make yourself better! How do you/your coaches keep a team motivated in the summer before you get choreography?
