Do you think music comes out better when you have a theme, just a bunch of songs that tell a story or a message or just a bunch of random songs you like??

I don't think you necessarily need a theme but if are using one, make sure it's one that lends itself to good songs. Cp's team had the theme of "island girls" (please, dont ask) a few years ago and I wanted to simultaneously go deaf and to sleep everytime I heard her music. It was a long season.

We were at a gym that did themes for every team and one year ours was Magic and it was incredible but after a few years you run out of ideas.

I did an 80's theme last year with one of my teams, they loved it!!
