Does your gym have try outs for tiny/novice? Ours does not. They will just sign up and be assigned a team I believe.

We do to determine who would be a mini and who would be a tiny. We actually last year ended up with some 6 year olds on our youth team because they actually have level 3 tumbling and mini would have bored them to death. Then we had some 6 year olds who couldn't understand what their arms are for who were on tiny. There's such a range developmentally at that age. They all get placed somewhere, it's just a matter of where.
