How do you think each of these schools will adapt if they adjust to a single format?

If they ever go to a single format it will drive what type of athlete is selected. If NCA 'won' then in a few years I feel like UK's athletes would begin to look a lot like U of L's. If UCA 'won' then U of L's athletes would begin to look like UK's. If there was a mix of rules then it would be a hybrid.

If you were to take 5 UCA top level teams and 5 NCA top level teams, put them all in the same athletic looking clothes, you would see an obvious physical difference. Just like comparing football players to basketball players, different requirements produce different looking athletes.

I think this is a big reason why I am sort of against the single format. I love both UCA and NCA for what they have to offer, so choosing one or the other would just make other teams not be the same at all to me anymore. If they were to combine the two I would probably feel a lot different about one single format, but it would then depend on what they take from each style. I personally don't want to see dance or jumps leave and at UCA it is mainly the all girl (possibly small coed) teams that do those things and not teams like UK or Alabama. I also love the stunting at UK and the UCA schools, but I love that the NCA schools pull more of the body positions that I identify with cheerleading.

If they want to move to one format they need to think long and hard to make sure they take the good parts from each style and make them into something that will fit all squads not just some.

I think nca reflects more allstar and uca reflects more high school.

Uca makes more sense to be the single one because it is a school based team.

But

Allstar gets more headlines. Nca style would be easier to attract more 'fans'.

I love parts of both, so here is my ideal competition.

There are two routines for each team. One routine is the "Game Day Routine". The team performs and cheer and band dance, as if they were at a game. They can use appropriate crowd leading stunts/pyramids and tumbling. They can use signs, poms and megs. They must have their "Game Day" uniforms on (white bows, simple makeup etc).

Then the teams compete their "Performance Routine". This is a flashy NCA/All Star style routine. Intricate stunts and pyramids. Interesting transitions. Fierce makeup and bows.

The two scores each count for 50% of the team's final score. This way teams must be able to lead the crowd (after all, that's the primary purpose of a college cheer team) and have an entertaining routine with difficult and innovative skills.

I have good friends on both teams so its very hard for me to choose. I say we let todays football game decide once and for all who is better?

It would depend on the format. I think it would be easier for Kentucky to add 4 people and win at NCA than Louisville to drop 4 people and win at UCA.

I disagree. If uk brought their current style to nca they would lose hands down. The same thing the uca style people complained about for this years team USA was that we do our skills to fast. Also if Louisville is dropping 4 people they've essentially shaved the fat and super charged their teams. Over the years Louisville has had far more stand out athletes. Uk is amazing in that they do it all but skill for skill they fall well behind in both stunts and tumbling.

Please give UK a little credit for being smart enough to go with an NCA style.

But you cant expect a Nebraska Cornhuskers running game to switch it up and go hard core with a passing game and expect them to be great at it at first. No matter how athletic they are.

Most of the Kentucky kids are former All*Stars and Jomo owned and coached at an All*Star gym, so they'd be doing something they have experience with. I didn't and am not saying they would come in and win instantly, but I think I'd rather add 4 specialist to my routine and go to NCA than take 4 people out and go to UCA.

clearly not saying they would bring the jog with them, but its a transition none the less. if its going to take time to transition then you have to think about recruiting. now uk is classically known for a uca style and people who like that go there. now if you are changing the whole game its going to take them a little bit to get back on top and recruit those style people. to me UL has the upper hand bc of sheer numbers. they have a wider base to draw from and it makes the transition easier and quicker for them.
