Apparently it does not matter what our opinions are in regards to liability for underage drinking but rather, how we manage due diligence to the athletes we coach or chaperone. I remembered the case of the cheerleader who fell from a balcony in Hawaii in 2004 while representing her highschool (?) for NCA and the Hula Bowl. I never realized that this was a case being brought to trial and decided to research. The case was litigated and closed in 2008 but here is what the Court found:

In my mind noone here was a winner. We can opine all we want but the Courts said differently. The saddest part is that lives were shattered including the defendant. I feel sorry for all involved.
