And clearly NCA Dallas isn't hurting for teams paying and competing! I've never seen so many cheerleaders in one place!

Is there a rule for crossovers between the teams in the summit like the max number of crossovers between level 1 team and a level 2 team? Sorry if i sound dumb

It's definitely better than having half a team be crossovers.

From experience that team that drops from 5 to 2 and wins a jacket doesn't go back and say they were National Champions in level 2. They spin it and announce their level 5 won Nationals on their website.
In defense of CEA she places kids n multiple teams so they can learn or be pushed. The friends I have there have cp's on one team to push (ex youth elite) a team for their skill level (ex jr 3) and then maybe a team they are a "worker" for (ex youth 3). So they would have to pick which team they compete with if they had a Summit bid (probably the jr 3 or youth 3).

2 examples of "limited/zero" crossovers. NCA & Worlds. The limitations have aided their growth and reputation. I just don't get why the Summit wouldn't do the same thing? It is supposed to be the "Worlds" for non-Worlds athletes. Does anyone seriously believe that their numbers would drop if they eliminated crossovers? I believe people would make it work just like they have to for NCA/Worlds. It's garbage. These divisions of rest,4,3,2,1 deserve a level playing field to see who's the best not compete against 5 ringers. It annoys the crap out of me but just like everyone else I'm hoping to attend again lol.

What does being a "worker" for a team mean?

You have strong skill in a certain area. The kid that flies junior level but is a killer base on youth. So she would be a "worker" for the youth team. Like a "worker bee".

Crossovers are unfair to teams who are true to their level. My senior 3 team last year (no crossovers, true to level) struggled at some competitions. We competed against "senior 3" teams which were really just teams of crossovers from level 5. I know "oh, it shouldn't matter, they're doing level 3 skills too" but it makes a HUGE difference and it's extremely unfair. I work very hard for my skills and to get beat by someone who can do those skills in their sleep is a slap in the face. I'm just saying, CROSSOVERS=CHEATING. That's my opinion. I think USASF needs to make crossovers illegal. While I know this wont happen, a girl can dream. That is all

I feel like 5 crossovers per gym (including kids that cross from worlds) could potentially be a good compromise. So you have a girl on a Worlds team who crosses over to restricted 5? You're at 1/5. You have another kid crossing from youth 2 to junior 3? You've now used 2 of your 5 crossovers.

I'm curious if you all think the following scenerio is inappropiate or "cheating" :
I have a granddaughter who is 14 yrs old using the UASAF age grid but 15 yrs old using International age grid. She is on the IOC 5 team but her coach asked her to help out this season by crossing over to Jr L3 (we don't have any L4) because of the small number on the L3 team. She is the only cross over. She is not "thrilled" to be on the Jr L3 team but is doing so because she is loyal to the gym and is trying to be a team player. Any thoughts?

i know a lot of people dont like crossovers, but they dont see it from the other side. i may be bias because i was a crossover for 3 year, but it helped me beyond belief. for one, having 4 practices a week instead of 2 kept me in shape, and helped me not lose progress in things such as tumbling which i often did if we had long breaks between the two practices. i LOVED being on 2 teams because its double the fun for me. two uniforms, two routines, two competition bows, twice the competitions.. i seriously loved it. being a crossover helped me advance my skills SO much and if you'd ask any of my coaches they'd say my stunting improved dramatically from being on two teams. crossovers although they seem unfair to others, they can be soo beneficial.

however i do understand the unfairness which my team experienced when we competed against a "big name" gym and the team we competed against had many worlds athletes. it did suck, and they did win, but i commend people that have the time, drive and willing to make the sacrifices to be on two teams

That is different and ok if 1 person does it. what upsets me is, when we were at a comp and the whole thing was on hold for 40 minutes for a "Sr2" team to warm up and compete because most of them were at the awards winning 1st place for Sr 5. That is wrong, plus it was a well known gym!
