My base is 33 and I'm in my mid-20s. I only started cheer two years ago, he didn't start til he was 27. We compete open partner stunt and I can't imagine a world without it. He's joked that when my boyfriend and I think it's time for kids he's going to have to approve the timing. Though I have a feeling I won't be able to fly after having kids… so I better make it to worlds ASAP!!!

I would say you're never too old, but it depends on the job you have! I'm a teacher and I don't want my kids to see me jumping and cheering around in this short costume. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE cheerleading, and it's So a sport, but some people (or students) wont' get this. I think it's way harder to be the person of authority you have to be if your students watch you in a competition...So now I'm a coach (and I love this too ;) )But maybe I'm wrong and this is just the situation here in Germany ;)

    Hiya!
I am also a teacher, and coach a team at my school (which I love doing) and on a few occasions this year, my students were competing in the same competition and session as I was, so were able to see my team compete - and they loved it! I find that being on a cheer team myself helps me to understand and be a better coach too :) The students really respect that I know what I'm talking about and have a lot of trust in me because they know I'm a cheerleader too. Cheerleading is only very new in my school though, so that might be a big difference!
I must admit though, it was a bit awkward to see some of their friends and non-cheerleading students at competitions in my uniform - oh and talking to the parents in my full uniform, cheer makeup and cheer bow was a little awkward, but they were all really supportive and it was more that I convinced myself it would be weird...lol
It's nice to see other teacher/coaches on here! :)

    A. When it no longer becomes enjoyable. You dread going to practice, make excuses, and it seems like a job then a hobby.

    B. When you are having problems doing daily activities because you're always in pain, you cannot sit because it kills your back, or you cannot walk because you've rolled your ankles too many times tumbling. Or you have a constant headache because your flyer won't stop kicking you in the head. Etc.

When it gets in the way of grown up life :-(

I'm probably going to have to miss the remainder of the season because I have to work the w/e of Nationals. I debated saying I couldnt work but that would seriously limit my opporunity to get promoted at work so I had to choose between grown up life and cheer!
