I’ve always preferred this over anything else.

Some people argue, “... but what if a coach challenges a deduction or some other component of the score? Placements would shift.”

This happens ALL. THE. TIME. in gymnastics, inquiries are sent in so often to change gymnasts’ scores. I will never forget the drama that was London 2012 Men’s Team Final, now that was dramatic.

The year when both Blink and Wildcats made it through to finals (the last year USASF/IASF did the whole score announcement thing), IASF should’ve just let the coaches of Blink know Wildcats score had been raised and Blink won’t be making the finals. Again, stuff like this happens in gymnastics all the time... people get bumped out the finals because D-scores are challenged and raised.

I mean, its probably about time someone takes a hard stand on the insanity that USASF/IASF puts teams through. Look at what happened in International Global 5 with the whole "who's in third" thing.

They need to figure out their processes ASAP. It's ridiculous that they follow their own rules, but only sometimes. They institute a curfew, then run an event that goes past that curfew.

It's also ridiculous that the ability to make decisions about who goes to finals lies with ONE person. That is crazy.

This Worlds proved that, no matter how much the sport may want it, we're not capable or ready to be an Olympic sport. At all.

I appreciate how this e-mail is already in the “Trash” folder, as it should be along with IA$F and U$A$F.

So there is actually more to this. An athlete from OO5 responded to someone saying they didn’t deserve the title and stated that they were actually scored wrong on their baskets and if the judges would have actually corrected the score they wouldn’t have tied and moved on to finals anyway with higher score. I know an anon posted a picture of the coaches talking to the judges and they responded that they were asking about a comment regarding their baskets.

ETA: I hope I made sense with that post.

They scored a 4.8 in difficulty and 5.0 in execution so I don’t buy that, they throw 6 switch kick double baskets in one section of that routine and that seems fair.

They’re so good, and they DO NOT need to justify themselves. This is not their issue to correct, it’s USASF’s. No one is going to say that 005 should have done something because this wasn’t their fault

To be fair, ICU is who has provisional Olympic status, not usasf/iasf. And ICU normally runs smoothly!

ICU does not run all that smoothly. We just don't hear about it as often because it's a smaller pool of teams. Add in that athletes have a much smaller chance of winning ICU worlds/making their national team than they do of even winning at all star worlds.

I think everyone is forgetting that part, that usasf/iasf isn't the olympic version and they're trying to compare all star cheerleading to what olympic cheerleading will be. The only all star divisions that even slightly mimic what ICU does are the Global divisions and they're still not quite the same.

I understand how people can see 3 per country as unfair or whatever phrase you want to use, but I feel like everyone focuses on this mentality of best of the best, which maybe, isn't quite the point yet in the IASF divisions. The purpose and goal of the event is more complex than globing and I think thats a bit lost in this shuffle

    Well, not Canada exactly. PCT.

Trust me, there's Canadians who think any number of things would've been better than having co-champions....

(long time no post bc I’m old now but I’ve been lurking this worlds weekend)

Here’s the thing: ignoring the made up tie, this still isn’t how ties (usually) work. If there is a tie for first, then there would be a “bronze” medalist (next highest score), then 4th, and so on. Because the “silver” team wouldn’t be in second if the top two teams tied - they are third, bc they were beat by two teams. Soooo seems to me like PCT still shouldn’t have medaled even if we ignore the other nonsense.

WHO is making these decisions. I know I shouldn’t be surprised at this point but this year has been like a whole new level for USASF.
