so... after five weeks off due to health issues, CP finally asked to go back to the gym to tumble :) and within an hour and a half, we were at the ER with a broken finger and we need to see a surgeon/specialist on Tuesday.

There is no mercy from the cheer gods.

I hope it turns out okay for her with a quick recovery

Praying for speedy recovery... my daughter broke her middle finger 3 years ago... had to get pinned and then therapy to get movement back but all good now!!

Jaylen did not make a worlds team because we went from 2 worlds teams to 1. And we kept anacondas of course so Jaylen wasn’t making that unless she is flying which isn’t happening.

She is super super excited because she made Royal Cobras (only the best restricted team ever lol) large senior coed R5 .... i use to be so in love with Royal Cobras in this division and now they are back!! ❤️❤️❤️

Sorry about the worlds team. So glad she will be on an amazing team though. My kid wasn't allowed to try out for a worlds team. So we are gymless for a minute lol.

Sorry about the World's team, but glad she is super excited to be on RC. Does this mean her dreams of track full time are pushed off by a year? I love that she's doing both!

Not allowed? That doesn't sound good, fingers crossed you find a better fit!!!

My cheerleader has decided rec is boring and she wants to go back to a gym. I have zero idea what to do with that because I have zero desire to find a gym to put her in (youngest, not oldest). I have zero belief that she can go meltdown free for an entire year and she is too high functioning to put on a special needs team---maybe half-season? I don't know...I wish she didn't want to cheer at all. Life would be easier. Older asked to go to a tumbling class, it didn't work into our schedule and then she made sure I paid for summer running camp. I don't see her coming back, but stranger things could happen I guess.

Thanks. I hope things work out for y'all, too.

If you don't mind my asking, what policy do the gym have that determines if a kid can try out for a worlds team or not? (Other than age)

An update to try-outs for CP. Her gym has decide not to tell people what team they have made. Instead they will practice in mixed groups during the summer, and will announce teams in August. But they want tuition, new uniform fees and comp fees before they tell you what team your CP has made. That could be a deal breaker for us.

Would be for me as well.

I imagine paying ALL of that before knowing the team you were on would be a deal breaker for multiple people.

That wouldn't fly with me either.

Wow, why the secrecy? The gym owners must be on the board of Varsity? The nerve of this gym to expect people to cough up money but not treat their customer fairly...

I’ve seen this done befor for several reason. Kids gain and loose skills all through the summer. Plus you always have those one hit wonders that land something at tryouts then are never able to do it again.

Leveled practice groups give you the opportunity to see skills consistently for a set amount of time. Plus see how athletes fit in with other athletes, Which athletes work best together, And how they hold up at the level in areas other than tumbling.

I rather place all the levels together for an extra month to see if someone one that might not have the tumbling can impress you in other areas or someone that has the tumbling night not have mindset and strength. Than place teams and regret a decision later, Or have to break someone’s heart by moving them down from a team they were just not ready for.
